Chapter 15 The Future Family Head of the Badmans
Chapter 15 The Future Family Head of the Badmans
If Alisa wanted to stand a chance against Sabrina, she had to lay the groundwork carly.
Otherwise, the moment Sabrina rose to her–full strength would be the same moment her family met its end.

The problem was, Sabrina had too many cards left to play–and in the original story, her protagonist’s halo burned far too bright.
Alisa couldn’t guarantee she could stop every twist and turn before it happened.
So, she would need an ally.
Not just any ally–someone who, like her, was firmly opposed to Sabrina and had the strength to keep her in check.
If they didn’t have that kind of weight, what business did they have calling themselves her teammate?
She already had someone in mind. The man was another wolf in sheep’s clothing from the original plot–the Badmans‘ most overlooked son, Xander Badman.
In the early chapters, the author barely gave Xander Badman any attention..
As the illegitimate son, he was an afterthought at best. In Qodon’s high society, he was practically invisible,
But later, when his mother passed away, he shed the mask. Years of quiet preparation erupted into a ruthless campaign of revenge against everyone who had wronged him. The Badmans went through a complete shake–up.
In the end, Xander rose to become the family head of the Badmans.
By then, the Roffes and the Nelsons had become open enemies, locked in an all–out feud.
Yet Sabrina always held the upper hand.
For many tangled reasons, Xander was always against Sabrina–but he had no interest in getting dragged into the war, so he stayed out of it.
Besides, if the Roffes collapsed, it did him no harm.
After the Roffes fell, the Badmans, the Nelsons, and the Storms formed the Big Three of Qodon’s elite families.)
In the original plot, Sabrina’s official love interest was Dustin Storm, head of the Storms.
That meant the Nelsons and the Storms eventually became one.
And Xander? He had the strength to balance them both.
That alone earned him the right to be Alisa’s ally.
That evening, at the Garner Residence.
Since Sabrina had caused chaos at the wedding, Cordelia’s attitude toward her husband had done a full 180.
Here at the Garner Residence, Cordelia was showing her true colors.
She’d demanded a separate bedroom, staged small blowups every other day, and stirred up full–blown arguments at least once a week–keeping Darcy’s parents so stressed they could barely sleep.
And yet, Darcy’s parents endured it.
What choice did they have?

She was already married into the family, and they couldn’t exactly blame her when their son had been keeping a mistress.
These days, Cordelia had her sights set on catching Bailey.
Darcy had done his best to hide her, but Cordelia still caught a few telling signs.
Bailey looked harmless enough at first glance–sweet, soft–spoken, and even innocent. But Cordelia knew better. Every time Darcy came home, he carried traces of her: a lingering perfume that wasn’t Cordelia’s and a faint lipstick stain on his collar.
It was Bailey’s way of sending a message–staking her claim.
Cordelia, however, didn’t take the bait. She kept her composure, pretending not to notice, saving her strength for the right
moment.
That evening, both families gathered for dinner. The atmosphere was oddly strained.
Darcy’s parents sat at the center, but they didn’t carry themselves like the hosts they were. They barely spoke, and when they did, their words seemed to vanish into the air.
Cordelia, on the other hand, spent the entire meal chatting with her family, passing dishes their way, and deliberately leaving the Garners on the sidelines.
Halfway through, she dropped the news already decided–that she would be moving back to the Roffe estate for a while.
Darcy’s expression tightened. He clearly didn’t like it, but his parents stayed silent.
Watching from across the table, Alisa felt a quiet relief. If anyone was suffering under the Garners‘ roof, it wasn’t Cordelia- and that was good enough for her.
After dinner, Cordelia climbed into the Roffes‘ car without a backward glance.
Darcy couldn’t exactly speak his mind in front of the Roffes. He tried a couple of times to get Cordelia to come upstairs and talk, but she didn’t so much as glance his way.
Rhea shrugged. “Going home is for the best. This house is thick with tension–it hardly feels like somewhere fit to live.”
Cordelia’s smile turned razor–sharp. “That woman out there has been getting far too bold. I’m going to deal with her, and properly. But before that, I’m going to make Darcy come begging for me to return.”
Alisa chuckled. “So you want him to plead with you to come back.”
Cordelia pointed at her with mock severity. “Alisa, when you pick a man someday, you’d better have your eyes wide open. Don’t end up fooled like I was. But since they’ve crossed me, they’re in for trouble. If I don’t strip them down to size, I’m not a Roffe.”
Seeing Cordelia’s fighting spirit, Alisa felt a wave of relief.
Cordelia wasn’t falling into the bitter, powerless role the original story had given her.
That meant the plot could change. Their family fate could change.
Alisa’s smile was light, almost teasing. “Easy now, Cordelia. You’re thinking a little too far ahead.”
On Cordelia’s third day back home, trouble hit Garner Group–a major project suddenly ran into a cash–flow crunch and needed a sizable sum to bridge the gap.
And, by pure coincidence–or so it would seem–the exact amount could be covered by the wedding gift the Garners had given Cordelia.
Darcy didn’t have the money on hand. His only option was to ask Cordelia for it.
But Cordelia had gone home, out of reach. He couldn’t see her in person, and she wasn’t answering his calls.

A coincidence?
Not a chance.
This was a trap Cordelia had set from the very beginning.

Meanwhile, Alisa had already mapped out Pamela’s routine.
Pamela suffered from chronic neck and shoulder strain; long poker sessions had left her with damage that needed regular care. She often visited skilled holistic therapists for treatment.
Somehow, Sabrina had gotten wind of this and volunteered herself to give Pamela needle therapy, swearing she could deliver noticeable results in just one course–better than any practitioner Pamela had used before.
In the original timeline, Pamela had been reluctant at first.
But Sabrina’s charm was too strong. Eventually, Pamela agreed to try it once.
To her surprise, it worked–remarkably well.
From there, Sabrina won Pamela over. She also tapped into her social network. Pamela introduced her to a string of wealthy clients, and soon people were lining up for Sabrina’s treatments.
She made money, expanded her influence, and eventually had a waiting list.
It wasn’t long before Qodon society began referring to her as the “Old–World Healer.”
Later, Sabrina was invited to a party hosted by the Greens, where she clashed with Megan.
Sabrina used the connections she’d built over the past weeks to publicly humiliate Megan, leaving her no way out.
In this story, public humiliation was always a chain reaction–once it started, Sabrina would keep exposing another identity.
If Alisa wanted to stop that future humiliation, she had to cut it off at the source.
So she timed it perfectly, arriving an hour early at Willow & Fern, a fashionable tea house where the first floor was for tea and pastries, and the upstairs rooms hosted high–stakes card games.
It was the go–to spot for Qodon’s wealthy ladies to spend their afternoons.
Alisa chose a quiet table in the back by the window and ordered a pot of tea and a plate of shortbread cookies.
She positioned herself where she could watch everyone coming through the door.
An hour later, a car pulled up outside.
Pamela stepped out–elegant as always–carrying a small designer bag and walked into the tea house.
Alisa recognized her instantly.
It seemed her card partners hadn’t arrived yet, so Pamela took a seat on the first floor for tea.
She had barely settled in when Sabrina arrived, dressed in casual chic and carrying a sense of purpose.
The moment she walked in, she headed straight toward Pamela.
