Rhea suggested, “This child shouldn’t have to bear that terrible man’s last name. Cordelia found out the Nelsons called her Coco, which is honestly awful. She’s endured so much and suffered countless injustices. Mom, let’s give her a proper name.”
“I’ve been thinking the same thing,” Vania replied after a brief pause.
“Alisa… yes, Alisa. A lovely name. I hope from this day forward, she can forget her troubles and live happily with us. Alisa Roffe, it is.”
“Perfect. That’s a beautiful name.”
Half–conscious, Alisa opened her eyes to see Vania and Rhea at her bedside.
“You’re awake!” Vania exclaimed with relief.
Alisa had actually been conscious for a while, listening to their entire conversation.
Even though she knew the full script of how things were supposed to unfold, she had to play along.
“W–who are you? Where am I?” she asked, feigning confusion.
“My dear child,” Vania’s eyes glistened with tears, “I’m your grandmother—your real grandmother. Your mother’s name is Belinda, isn’t it? She’s my eldest daughter, which makes you my granddaughter.”
“I’m your Aunt Rhea,” Rhea added quickly. “Belinda’s my sister.”
Lowering her lashes, Alisa mentally reviewed the family tree.
SY
The Roffes was a large, powerful clan. Her mother, Belinda, was the eldest, followed by Rhea and two younger brothers, Zach and Kemp.
The one who’d gone to bring her back earlier that day–Cordelia–was Rhea’s daughter.
According to the original story, her grandfather, Erasmus Roffe, had died about ten years ago after a long illness. Since then, Vania had ruled the family with an iron hand.
She had always favored Belinda. If her daughter hadn’t lost her head over love back then, Vania would have groomed her to take over the family business.
Though Alisa was Belinda’s child, her age made her the youngest of her generation.
Vania’s warm, trembling voice broke her thoughts.
“We’ve searched you for years–everywhere, even overseas. And all this time, you were right under our noses. But now you’re home, and from this day on, you’ll never know hardship again. I’ll spend the rest of my life loving and protecting you.”
Rhea nodded in agreement. “Those Nelsons don’t deserve you. Cordelia did the right thing today. From now on, we and the Nelsons are sworn enemies. Every injustice you’ve suffered, we’ll make them pay for it, one by one.”
Alisa looked at them, and she was genuinely moved.
In the original timeline, the Roffes would end up destroyed under the heroine Sabrina’s halo of invincibility, their entire family ruined.
Her eyes turned red; a single tear slipped free. “Grandma. Aunt Rhea, you’re too good to me.”
Vania pulled her into a tight embrace, weeping openly, and patted her shoulder.
No more tears, sweetheart. I have given you a new name. From now on, you’re not Coco. You’re Alisa Roffe. Our Alisa”

Alisa had been back with the Roffes for only a week before their vengeance on the Nelsons began in earnest.
The Nelsons had never been top–tier in this city, and after a few swift strikes, they were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.
For two months, Alisa focused on recovering, regaining most of her strength, all while keeping a close eye on the Nelsons‘ downfall.
During this time, she met the rest of the clan: Aunt Rhea and her two uncles. he clan: Aunt Rhea and her two uncles.
The Roffes were infamous in the city, whispered about as if they were the villains in a crime novel. And yet, to Alisa, this house felt like the safest place in the world. Everyone treated her well.
Still, their reputations were colorful.
Rhea was notorious in the socialite circles–a minx with a fiery temper who did whatever she pleased. After divorcing years ago, she even changed her daughter’s last name to Roffe and has remained single ever since.
Gossip linked her to at least three men at any given time.
Uncle Zach was sharp, cunning, and ruthless–a master of self–interest with zero business ethics.
Uncle Kemp was the quiet, calculating type, devoid of sympathy or mercy.
Rumor had it he once forced two townspeople to take their own lives to secure a redevelopment deal.
Whether the rumors were true or not, no one cared to find out.
The tales only grew wilder, cementing the Roffes‘ reputation as a den of vipers.
And the younger generation? Just as dangerous.
Cordelia, Rhea’s daughter, inherited her mother’s beauty and charm. She’d been the star of every school she attended, with admirers lining up around the block.
Pretty as she was, she had a sharp hand–if she didn’t like you, sooner or later, you’d feel the sting of her palm.
She had now graduated from university and was engaged to what she considered the perfect man, with the wedding just weeks away.
Zach’s son, Preston Roffe–Alisa’s only male cousin–was a whole other level of trouble.
A skilled combat specialist since childhood, he had both his father’s cunning and a fighter’s strength.
Kemp had a daughter, Megan Roffe.
She was a chameleon–clever, manipulative, and trained in psychology. Anyone hiding a guilty conscience stood no chance under her gaze; she was impossible to deal with,
Every Roffes, young or old, had their own brand of wickedness.
Sabrina had wiped out the Roffes so completely in the original storyline that she was practically hailed as a savior in Qodon afterward.
It was her destiny to climb to the top by grinding the Roffes under her heel–and end her tale with a perfect, heroic finale.
But Alisa was no one’s stepping stone.
Back when she’d read the story, she’d seethed at the Rolfes pitiful downtall. Now, she had the chance to change it herself. Still, this was going to be a dangerous gamble.
If the let events unfold as written, the Rolfes would still be destroyed, and she–just like in the original–would end up leaping to her death, her body shattered beyond recognition.

Alisa valued her life far too much to let that happen.
So this gamble had only one acceptable outcome–victory.
If Sabrina has her heroine’s halo, I’ve got the whole script in my hands. Let’s see whose edge is sharper.
A soft knock came at the door. The butler, George Burn, stepped in, finding Alisa seated by the window.

The Roffes were one of the few families in Qodon still living in a sprawling courtyard estate, three generations under one roof.
By the time Alisa followed George to the front hall, everyone else was already there.
“Alisa, there you are. Feeling better?” Cordelia greeted her with a gentle smile.
Much better,” Alisa replied. “That calming tea you gave me last time was wonderful.”
“Was it? I’ll have another box sent up to your room,” Cordelia said.
Megan pursed her lips in mock jealousy. “Oh, I see how it is. You wouldn’t even give me one bag last time, but Alisa gets a whole box? Well, I suppose she does need the extra care.”
“That’s enough, you two,” Rhea cut in.
Then she turned to Vania, seated at the center. “Mom, what’s so urgent you called us all here?”
