Chapter 3
I sat there alone for a long while before walking into Dylan’s study.
Perhaps in a rush to meet his beloved, he had forgotten to log out of his computer.
Two hours earlier, Dylan had sent a message to his Beta assistant:
[Maeve found out that the pups‘ graves are empty. Have someone go to the ancestral grave tomorrow to fake some graves for her, so she doesn’t dig them up again to check. Just throw in the bones of some stray cats and dogs.]
[If the pack elders blame me, I’ll take the responsibility. Liora just got the world’s best acrobat
troupe honor, and I don’t want her to have any trouble.]
Back then, Dylan had threatened to sever ties with his mother to prevent her from forcing me to
break the mate bond. But he still didn’t dare defy the family elders‘ wishes and buried the
the family tomb.
But now, he was willing to sacrifice anything for the sake of his first love.

What a joke. My pups couldn’t even be buried in the Crystalveil Pack’s precious ancestral grave, but
now, stray cats and dogs could.
But the message at the very bottom made me freeze in place.
[Alpha, no mother would fail to recognize her own pups. You promised Liora that her troupe would
perform for your anniversary. If Luna finds out those pups were…]
[Don’t worry. I had their faces ruined a few days ago. As for their ugly bodies, just say it was a
coincidence. After all, acrobatics don’t depend on looks. They can wear masks if needed. In any
case, I won’t let Liora get upset.]
A cold chill ran down my spine. Dylan, those were your pups too!
How could you be so heartless?

Besides this, I found many electronic drug observation reports, each with a disturbing note at the
bottom.
[Liora wants an actor with two heads. Maeve’s first pregnancy–give her the #1 serum. The side effects will damage the fetus’s heart, but as long as Liora’s happy, who cares?]
[Maeve is pregnant again. This time Liora wants a pup with a monkey’s tail…]
The seafood soup had cooled on the dining table, its surface coated with a greasy layer.

In the past, Dylan had always prepared my meals during my pregnancies. He was afraid I wouldn’t eat properly, so he’d patiently feed me.
“Maeve, this is a herbal soup I made for you. You have to eat more so our pups can grow up healthy.”
I had always been moved by his thoughtfulness, finishing every last bite.
Turned out, my dear Alpha mate had been feeding me poison all along, poisoning our pups‘ lives.
After recording everything, I trembled as I called the lawyer, “I want to break the mate bond, and I want full custody of the pups.
My pups‘ bodies had already been destroyed by their Alpha father. I would never let anyone use
them as a means to gain attention.
Dylan returned early the next day.
Seeing the dark circles under my eyes, he looked concerned.
“Maeve, didn’t you sleep well last night? It’s my fault; I’ve been so busy with work that I haven’t
had time to properly take care of you.
I didn’t expose his lie.
I had seen Liora’s post on Instagram:
[Life is long, but with your love, I don’t feel lonely. A huge diamond ring and a sports car, both of
which I like, but I like you more, my Alpha professor.]
[Thank you for the fireworks display across the city. No matter how beautiful, they can’t compare
to the way you look at me.]
In the picture, their fingers were intertwined, and I immediately recognized Dylan’s hand.
Dylan hesitated, gauging my reaction.
“Maeve, the day after tomorrow is the tenth anniversary of our mate bond. The acrobat troupe has
just returned from abroad and is rehearsing at the hotel today.”
“If you’re not feeling well, I can go alone…”
I straightened up instantly.
Did that mean I could see my pups?
“No, I’m going. Let’s go now.”
