Chapter 9
Richard’s crimes were quickly uncovered.
He had deliberately neglected his duties during surgery, knowingly allowing Lily – who was completely unqualified – to operate, treating human life like a joke and ultimately causing the patient’s death.
He was also charged with kidnapping, illegal drug administration, and assault.
The police submitted all evidence to the prosecutor’s office, who filed charges requesting maximum sentencing for multiple felonies.
Meanwhile, Lily’s background was completely exposed..
She wasn’t even a medical student, let alone qualified to practice medicine.
She’d only studied business management abroad for a few years, then used Richard’s connections to get shoved into the hospital as a fake intern.
For a time, online, in the media, even within the hospital – everyone was talking about it.
“Hospital hiring standards would never allow someone like this! We spent years busting our asses in medical school – are we all just a joke now?!”
“How could someone like that NOT kill people in the OR?!”
“Playing games with people’s lives – that’s worse than murder!”
To drag Lily down with him, Richard posted all the photos of her mutilating his mother’s donated body online.
Kick a man when he’s down.
Turns out other doctors in the OR had secretly recorded the surgical procedure, and now everything was public.
Once the story broke, public outrage exploded.

Hospital administration held an emergency press conference, immediately terminating Lily’s internship and launching a full investigation into all involved parties.
Lily not only lost her job but faced criminal charges.
On the day of the trial, the courtroom was packed.
Media reporters, hospital representatives – everyone showed up.
And I sat in the gallery, hands clenched tight, heart pounding.
Then Richard and Lily were brought into the courtroom.
Richard kept scanning the gallery.
When he spotted me, there was actually a flicker of joy in his eyes.
I rolled my eyes. Made me grosser than swallowing a fly.
After court opened, the judge had them state their cases.
Richard pointed at Lily, his voice raspy but vicious:
*This is all her fault! She couldn’t even recognize basic surgical procedures – that’s what killed the patient! I was just… just deceived by her!”

Chapter 9
Lily immediately exploded.
“You’re lying! You’re the one who forced me into the OR! You knew I wasn’t licensed to practice, but you made me impersonate an intern anyway! The patient died because you were the lead surgeon – you’re the real killer!”
“If you hadn’t been obsessing over me, would I have even been in that operating room?!”
Richard roared back.
Lily wasn’t backing down, practically screaming:
“Stop acting all innocent! I could’ve gotten into the hospital through my own connections without you! You’re the one who came crawling to me, begging me to go out with you!”
“That’s bullshit! Emma’s right there watching – stop slandering me! I never gave you a second glance!”
The two of them went at each other like rabid dogs in the courtroom.
Throwing each other under the bus, voices getting louder and louder until the bailiffs almost had to step in.
I sat there, completely unmoved.
Finally, the gavel came down.
Richard was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for deliberate medical negligence resulting in death, kidnapping, illegal drug administration, and assault – multiple felonies combined.
And Lily got seven years for impersonating a medical student, practicing medicine without a license, and malicious desecration of human remains.
It was finally over.
As the police led Richard away, he suddenly struggled to turn back.
His eyes locked onto mine, voice hoarse and pleading:
“Emma… I’m sorry… I was so wrong… please forgive me? If you just say you forgive me, I could die in there peacefully…”
I looked at him quietly, tears welling up but not falling.
“Richard, you don’t need my forgiveness. The person you need to ask forgiveness from is the man who took the Hippocratic Oath when he became a doctor!”
His face went deathly pale, lips trembling as he tried to speak, but no words came out.
With a sharp “click,” the handcuff chain was pulled tight.
Richard was led away, stumbling.
I watched his retreating figure.
A tear fell.
Taking away all the pain of the past.
From now on, I could finally live in peace.
