Chapter 21

“Stay here and rest at noon, no need to bother going back.” The calmer Gerhart was when he said this, the more flustered Latrina felt inside.
“I’ll just take a nap at my desk, I’m afraid I won’t sleep well in a new bed and it’ll bother your rest.” She turned it down.
Gerhart didn’t say anything, just like always, no expression at all.
Her nervousness around him was perfectly natural. They’d just gotten married, and she didn’t want others to know. If she slept here, she would slip up sooner or later.
The lunch dishes were great. You could tell they were carefully prepared and didn’t look like takeout.
“Was this made by the servants at home?” she broke the awkward silence.
“Not really,” Gerhart paused, “Mom made it.”
Flustered, Latrina gulped down her fried rice
‘Auntie told my parents you went to the hospital for an early pregnancy check.” He spoke so calmly that Latrina couldn’t see any emotion on his face.
She panicked, but seeing how calm he was, she suddenly felt cold inside.
‘So, about our marriage certificate…”
‘They all knew, after we finished this, we’d take you back to meet everyone.”
Po
‘Oh.”
‘Well, I’m going down.” She pressed her lips together, just wanting to get away.
Soon, after they finished eating, Gerhart started cleaning up and didn’t let her help, just like before.
She actually forgot that he still had a family, unlike herself she only needed to feed herself and didn’t have to worry
about anyone
else.
Being alone with someone felt suffocating to her, her heart started beating faster for no reason, and a blush appeared on her cheeks.
‘Wait a minute.” Gerhart walked to the desk, Latrina followed beside him.
Give me the phone.” He sat down and reached out his hand for her phone.
‘Huh?”
She froze for two seconds, but had to hand him the phone.
Opened her phone, Gerhart did a bunch of
‘I tied our online payment to one account, you just bought whatever you wanted.”
He had just finished talking when he saw her note for him: Vampire Boss.
He smiled and changed the note to “Hubby“, and did the same for her contact number.
Latrina’s eyes darted around, she didn’t dare look, and her palms just broke out in a cold sweat.
‘I’m not really good at comforting girls. If there’s anything I did wrong, just tell me, I can change.”
After he finished, he handed the phone back to Latrina.
“Okay.” She nodded.
He really wasn’t good at cheering up girls
Finally got out of the president’s office, felt like a huge weight was lifted off her shoulders.
After work in the afternoon, Latrina drove to the mall to buy a few winter clothes and warm layers.
There weren’t many new winter clothes this season, so she just had to pick some warm ones.

But she didn’t expect to run into someone she knew at the mall.
“Trina!” The woman came up.
“Ms. Barrera!”
Sevyn Barrera was a college professor, and Latrina’s mom was her best friend.
Ms. Barrera called her Trina, just like Sierra did, She had been one of Latrina’s old friends for a long time..
Actually, Latrina learned to draw from Sevyn.
She dressed casually, but couldn’t hide her elegance. Everything she did showed the grace of a lady from a good family.
“You came shopping too?” the two said at the same time.
Latrina heard she had been living in Denver. Didn’t expect to run into her here.

“Here to get some clothes for my son. He never lets me relax, busy with work, going on a business trip tomorrow. So, I came out to see if there’s anything needed to buy.”
Şevyn looked Latrina up and down, “You look really good!”
Latrina got embarrassed by the compliments and quickly grabbed her arm to pull her along.
“Rare to see someone I know, I was gonna buy some clothes too, can you help me pick?”
A
“Sure! Also help pick something for my son, you young people probably have similar taste.”
That’s how they walked around the mall for two or three hours.
“Did you eat? Want to eat at auntie’s place?”
The two of them carried lots of bags, sat on a bench in the mall, and drank bubble tea while resting.
“Not really, Ms. Barrera, I had to hurry back, still had some things to get ready.”
She suddenly realized that today Gerhart said he’d come back for dinner. It was already past eight now. She didn’t know if he would wait for her to eat, or just eat by himself.
“Alright, I had something to do later too, let’s meet up next time!”
“Okay, Ms. Barrera.” She hugged Sevyn dotingly.
The two said goodbye in a hurry.
She got in the car, turned on her phone, and saw that “Hubby” had called her and sent her messages on WhatsApp.
“When will you come back?”
She
got
startled and quickly called him back.“Sorry, I ran into someone I know at the mall and chatted for a bit.”
“It’s okay, when will you be back?”
“Heading back now, should be home in about ten minutes.”
“Waited for you.”
“Okay.”
Suddenly, someone else was in her life. It felt strange, and being urged to go home gave her a weird thrill she couldn’t explain.
Her ears turned red.
The car started and headed for the apartment.
On the way, passing by some street vendors, she couldn’t help but stop by the roadside and bought a bunch of tulips.
The car was parked in the garage, she got out holding tulips, her face full of smiles.
“You’re back. Gerhart’s voice.

“!! Latrina was startled and instinctively took a step back.
She felt a bit awkward, quickly pulled herself together, shut the car door, and walked toward him.
“How come you’re here?” she asked.
“Waited for you.”
His eyes fell on the tulips in her arms.
Latrina felt a bit uneasy inside and didn’t know what to say next.
“Here, these flowers are for you.” Her ears felt hot as she carefully handed him the flowers, not sure if he would take them.

Gerhart looked at her, then at the flowers. He slowly reached out and took them. His warm, big hand brushed against her slender little one, and a spark ran through them.
“Thanks.” A glimmer of happiness showed on his face, barely noticeable.
Latrina pressed her lips together and thought, “Why did I give him flowers? What’s wrong with me?” She looked a bit reluctant and quickly pulled her hand back.
Just when things got awkward, Gerhart moved closer to her, reached out, and pulled Latrina into his arms.
The hand holding the flowers wrapped around her slim waist, and the other hand hugged her fragrant shoulder.
“!!” Latrina was startled, her little hands hanging in the air with nowhere to go, her body stiff. The overwhelming scent of sandalwood
surrounded her.
He was so hot, she could feel his burning chest even through his thin shirt.
She didn’t dare breathe, her heart was pounding with nerves, and it felt like electricity was running through her whole body.
She thought, “Should I have reached out to hug him?!”
Latrina was struggling, with a thin layer of sweat on her forehead.
This hug was pretty gentlemanly, not too close, but it was enough to stir up a storm in her chest.
T
She swallowed, and finally reached out her little hand and put it around his broad back.
After a long moment, they slowly let go. Latrina’s eyes darted nervously, unsure where to land, while Gerhart stayed calm, his gaze
“Did you eat?” Latrina suddenly remembered.
“No, I waited for you.”
Uh, this was so awkward.
“Sorry, I forgot…”
She forgot, forgot that she wasn’t alone right now, forgot that she was already married.
“It’s okay, you’ll get used to it.”
“Yeah.”
After a brief chat, Latrina walked to the trunk and picked up the clothes she bought today.
Gerhart didn’t say anything, handed her the flowers, then took the bag from her hand and walked into the hall.
