Chapter 16
Latrina looked up and saw the dark figure in front of her. She was stunned.
It was Gerhart.
He stopped Sonya from hitting her.
There was a big hand around her waist, and she didn’t even know when he pulled her into his arms.
“How dare you hit
even tighter.
my woman?” Gerhart’s face darkened, his eyes gloomy. His words were cold as ice. As he questioned, he gripped Sonya’s hand
‘Let go of me!” Sonya cried out in pain and fought back, but the maid hurried over to stop Gerhart.
Gerhart ignored her and just looked down at, Latrina, who was crying her eyes out.
It was strange. Just now his eyes were as cold as ice, but now they looked a bit warmer.
Latrina was scared stiff. After a long time, she reached out and pulled his hand back.“She’s pregnant. Don’t stoop to her level.”
Hitting a pregnant woman could get him arrested.
Gerhart finally let go slowly.
Sonya recognized Gerhart and got so scared she took two steps back.
“Mr. Crowley…”
“What? Who’d you just call the random guy?”
His eyes were sharp, and he looked at Sonya coldly.
Sonya still didn’t get what was going on and was totally overwhelmed. She blurted out, “Latrina is just a bitch! She slept with another guy before breaking up with her boyfriend…”
Smack!
This slap was from Gerhart.
He hit women!
The air around them felt like it was standing still.
Sonya covered her face and finally realized that he was that random guy!
“Get lost. Don’t let me hear your voice again,” Gerhart said, not looking at her. Instead, he carefully wiped away the tears at the corner of Latrina’s eyes and gently rubbed her slapped, reddened cheek.
Sonya knew she was in the wrong and didn’t dare cause trouble. Covering her swollen, red face, she hurried off.
Latrina was at a loss.
“Does it hurt?” he asked.
She steadied herself and tried to get out of his arms, but he just held her tighter.
“Did you get the checkup?” He was really gentle, even his eyes were warm.
Latrina lowered her head, her heart pounding, and the blush on her face spread from her earlobes down to her neck.
Her hands had already grabbed his clothes at some point.
“Let go of me first. Everyone’s watching…”
Gerhart finally released her slowly. Kelvin, standing next to him, pursed his lips and subtly turned away.
After all that fuss, Latrina hadn’t gotten her checkup, and the doctor had already left for the day.
Reluctantly, she let him hold her hand and got into his car.

Kelvin was waiting outside, while the two of them inside felt extremely awkward.
“Why did you get here?” Latrina.

“Aunt Carol called–said she saw you at the OB–GYN. Then I caught you dry heaving this morning, so I came over.” Gerhart tilted his head, eyes on Latrina, whose cheeks were burning.
“If I didn’t come, how long were you planning to keep it from me?”
Latrina held the form. The usual arrogance was gone around him, and even that little bit of confidence was completely crushed.
“I really took the pill, and also, I haven’t had a checkup yet, so I don’t know if…” she started to speak more cautiously.
Gerhart’s Adam’s apple bobbed.“What if you are pregnant?”
“This has nothing to do with you,” Latrina paused, pushed the car door open, and left. Gerhart didn’t stop
her.
“It has nothing to do with me?” he mumbled, leaned against the back of the car, and watched her figure getting farther and farther away outside the window
Her words sounded like she was mad, just like what he said to her at the manor yesterday.
Kelvin slid into the driver’s seat. Seeing Gerhart’s sour mood, he didn’t dare ask anything, but it seemed like he got the whole picture.
“She’s so stubborn,” Gerhart said.
Kelvin just offered a soft smile.
Back at the apartment, Latrina lay on the couch, staring at the

table.
“Gerhart,” she murmured this unfamiliar name, and then let out a sigh.
She thought, “What if I get pregnant? Will I get an abortion? Or will I be like my mom, have the baby, and be a single

name, stared at his string of numbers, and zoned out.
“Trina! I knew you were home. Open the door!”
It was Eduardo’s voice outside.
His voice was deep and heavy, and he was breathing hard, like he was drunk.
Latrina glanced at the door, hugged her pillow, and covered her head. She knew he would come, but she didn’t expect him to come so soon.
The neighbors next door all opened their doors and whispered to each other.
Latrina didn’t want any trouble, so she got up with her phone, walked to the door, and then took a look through the peephole.
He was swaying in the peephole, and Latrina could smell his nasty booze breath even through the door.
She opened the door, and a strong smell of alcohol barged in with him. The heavy scent spread all around. At that very second, Latrina was suddenly hugged by Eduardo.
The door was closed.
“Let go of me!” Latrina tried to push him away, but he just held her tighter!
“Trina, I missed you…”
He was on the verge of tears, kissing Latrina like crazy,
She shoved him away, but he clung to her like a leech.
“Eduardo! You’re drunk! Don’t touch me!” she yelled, but somehow, she ended up on the couch with him.
Eduardo wasn’t tall, but he was built. There was no breaking free from him–his strength was on a whole other level.

“I heard you hooked up with Gerhart?”
Sonya wasted no time. Maybe Gerhart had slapped her, and she was pissed. Now she was out for blood.
Eduardo grabbed her hands, pinning them to her stomach, and leaned over her on the couch, looming down.
Latrina couldn’t budge. He was kneeling on her legs, pressing down hard.
“You blocked me on WhatsApp and cut off my calls. How could you be so cold?” he accused, acting like an oblivious jerk.
“What about Gerhart? He is cleaner, richer, and better–looking than you!”
A loud slap was heard.
Latrina screamed in shock.
Eduardo slapped Latrina.
She was stunned, and tears streamed down her face before she could react.
Eduardo was stunned too. Then he realized he had hit Latrina. He hit the woman he loved.
He quickly leaned down, his eyes filled with guilt as he touched her reddened cheek.
“I’m sorry…”
“Get your dirty hands off!” Latrina gritted her teeth and secretly pressed Gerhart’s number.
“You still won’t forgive me…”
“You don’t deserve it!”

Eduardo’s eyes turned red, his throat constricted, and the air felt heavy. For a moment, his heart seemed to stop, as if his blood had frozen. He squeezed her hand tighter.
Latrina winced, biting her lip.
His eyes softened, becoming gentle.
Latrina knew she was doomed.
She could feel Eduardo’s hand softly brushing her cheek, trying to wipe away her tears.
“Stop crying. Let me take care of you too. Someone like Gerhart, a big shot in the industry, won’t marry you, but I will. We can go abroad, somewhere nobody knows us…”
Latrina spat at him!
“Loser! Dream on!” she yelled.
