Chapter 25
Raymond was already upset after a few unanswered calls to Veronica. Hearing the teasing, Raymond shot Colton a cold glance and said nothing, his lips pressed into a tight line.
Colton raised his eyebrows. “Wait, bro, don’t tell me you actually got turned down by a woman.
Raymond replied flatly. “Not a woman.” He didn’t say that it was actually a sweet young girl
But Colton had no clue what Raymond was thinking. The moment he heard “not a woman, he automatically ruled out all women.
Colton thought, ‘Makes sense. Raymond looks like a charming gentleman, but anyone who actually knows him understands he’s far from easy–going.
The guy is 29 and still single–never even heard of him having a fling. With someone so principled and disciplined, no way he’s worked up over a woman.
Colton chuckled and waved the club manager over. He said to Raymond, “Hey, I heard they’ve got some new hot girls working tonight. Wanna have fun with them?”
Raymond shot Colton a glare.
Colton raised both hands like he surrendered. “Alright, alright, I’m just kidding. Everyone knows you’re saving yourself for your future wife. Guess the hot girls are all mine.
The way Colton said it made anyone want to smack him. Raymond just took a sip of his drink and gave Colton a slow side–eye.
some business partners
The manager left, and a server came by to refill their drinks. Tonight’s gathering wasn’t just the two of them they worked with were on the way too
Before the others arrived, Colton nudged Raymond with his elbow and asked, “Hey, do you know where your nephew is?”
Raymond frowned, “Huh?”
Colton said, “You haven’t heard about the stunt that punk pulled? He actually had the guts to walk right into
“I know,” Raymond cut him off without much emotion.
Right now, just thinking about his stupid nephew made Raymond’s blood boil. The whole engagement went up in flames thanks to Alexander’s forwardness, and Raymond had the urge to beat him senseless.
Colton had no idea how much rage was brewing under Raymond’s cool and calm expression. He clicked his tongue and said, “That kid really got some nerve, huh? Dissing Ronie like that? As if he even stands a chance with her.”
Raymond said, “He doesn’t”
new cun to what Colton nodded. “Exactly. You don’t even think your nephew can, so your idiot nephew, our two families’s relationship is basically done for.”
makes him think Ronie would? Too bad, though. Thanks to
“Done?” Raymond asked. A flash of something cold passed through his eyes. “What do you mean by that?”
He thought, “What else happened while I wasn’t looking? I shouldn’t have just sent Alexander off overseas. I should’ve had someone drag him to Aurelias after a proper beating
Colton didn’t notice the dangerous glint in Raymond’s eyes. He just said with a grin. “Yeah. Before I came out tonight, I overheard Victor say my dad personally wrote a letter cutting ties and sent it to your grandpa. So yeah, things are toast now.”
Raymond froge for a second. Without a word, he grabbed his phone off the table, pulled up the contact for the branch manager in Aurelias, and typed out a message: Cancel all of Alexander’s pay and benefits.]
In Aurelias, Alexander stood under the blazing sun as he tried to read the blueprints, his hair damp and clinging to his forehead.
He turned to head for some shade and grab a drink, but spotted his colleague, Mario Locke, putting away the bottled water meant for
company reps.

Confused, Alexander asked, “Mario, what’s going on!”
Mario replied, “Mr. Alexander Harrington, orders from the top. Starting today, you’re treated like a local employee.”
Alexander blinked. “Wait, what?”
“You’ll eat what they eat and drink what they drink, Mario replied,
Alexander looked toward the long line of workers, the water cooler sitting under an umbrella, and the plastic cups beside it covered in thumbprints. A wave of dread hit him hard.
He hadn’t even had a sip yet, and he already felt like he was drowning in “locd flavor
Alexander thought, ‘Uncle Raymond is clearly coming for me. He’s trying to break me down. Can’t even let me have my own bottle of water?”
Mario gestured and said, “Mr. Harrington, maybe go line up there?”
Alexander replied in a firm tone. “No, I’m calling my dad.”
He reached into his soaked pocket, pulled out his phone, and immediately started a video call back to his father overseas.
Larry, already in bed, was woken by the ringtone. He put on his glasses before hitting accept.
The screen lit up with Alexander’s dirt–covered, sweaty face, and Larry nearly jumped. “What the hell is that?
Alexander cried out, “Dad… save me. Uncle Raymond is torturing me. He’s making me eat and sleep with the locals. It’s awful.”
Larry snorted, “You called in the middle of the night just to whine? What is wrong with you? Raymond would never pull something like that. I’m warning you, do whatever he tells you. Otherwise, forget inheriting anything from the company.
Alexander hadn’t expected his complaint to backfire so hard. Crushed, he turned the phone to show the scene. “I’m not making this up. Look, just look over here-
Determined to prove his suffering, Alexander talked nonstop under the blazing sun, desperate for his dad to understand how miserable he was. But when he finally stopped talking, there was only silence. He pulled the phone back to check and saw a black screen.
He opened the call history and found out that the call duration was only 32 seconds. Turned out Larry had hung up right after scolding him. Alexander had been ranting to no one but the air.
Finding out the truth, Alexander felt totally defeated.
Mario asked, “Sir, you really don’t wanna
line up
for water?”
Alexander looked up and sighed weakly. But inside, he thought, ‘No way, I’m not giving in. I’m going to resist to the bitter end
Mario glanced at him and said, “Alright then. Guess the water guys can pack up now.
That snapped Alexander out of it. He bolted forward and shouted, “Wait, I haven’t had any yet. Hold up.”
Back in the country, no one really cared how pitiful Alexander looked in Aurellas. Raymond had already told his people to keep an eye on Alexander. As for Veronica, she didn’t spare him a thought.
Honestly, if Alexander hadn’t been so ridiculously dumb, she probably wouldn’t have remembered him at all.
After talking with Edwin for over an hour, Veronica returned to her room. She glanced at her phone on the bed and saw a bunch of missed calls–all from Raymond
She sighed and rubbed her forehead in frustration. Seeing it was past midnight, she typed a quick text before tossing the phone back down and going to sleep
Raymond, who had been anxiously waiting, finally received a reply. He decided to play it cool and wait a few minutes before answering. By the time he finally sent his message, Veronica had been asleep. He got no response again.

He clenched his jaw and gave a snort through gritted teeth. “That little brat.”
