Chapter 12
Whether the crowd could read lips or not, everyone understood the word Veronica had mouthed was “homewrecker“. They gasped and looked at each other in shock.
The people attending the dinner party were all sharp–eyed and quick to catch on. They had already pricked up their ears when David spoke badly of Veronica to Mason earlier.
At the time, they’d thought that even though Veronica was the heiress of the Weston family, she’d been raised in a poor village for eighteen years. They’d figured even if she was pretty, she had to be nothing more than an ignorant country bumpkin.
Now that the guests heard Veronica firing back without the slightest regard for sparing her father’s and sisters‘ pride, their impression of
her sink even lower.
They thought, So Veronica really is from a poor village. She doesn’t even defend her own family. She’s got nothing but a pretty face.
Sharing the same thought were not only the people in the hall but also Alexander, who stood at the edge of the garden, taking in everything happening inside.
“All she’s got is just a pretty face.” He lifted his champagne and took a sip, his tone carrying a hint of disdain.
Stephen narrowed his eyes and said nothing in response to his grandson’s words.
Years of experience in the business world told Stephen that Veronica, who stood there without the slightest panic under the gaze of the crowd, was definitely not as simple as she looked on the surface.
Stephen instantly thought of his old–fashioned son, Raymond. Watching her, Stephen couldn’t shake the feeling that he was seeing a reflection of Raymond in her.
Veronica sneered, “I’m the daughter of my dad’s wife and I’m only allowed to live in a storage room. And you, the daughter of a homewrecker, what right do you have to have an entire music room to yourself?”
If Veronica’s earlier words had left them a shred of dignity, then this time she completely humiliated David’s family, especially Chloe.
Chloe roared, “Veronica, you’re full of crap.‘
Linda was also furious, her eyes brimming with tears as she glared at Veronica. “Veronica, if I’ve done something wrong, you can tell me directly.
“There’s no need to humiliate me and your father like this in front of so many people. Do you want me to die of shame!”
Veronica arched a brow. How could you die of shame when you’ve got no–shame at all?”
Linda was speechless. Right now, she truly wanted to beat the crap out of Veronica, “David Linda turned and buried her face against David’s shoulder, sobbing.
“Veronica” David was completely enraged, his eyes wide as he glared at Veronica, as if he were about to tear her apart.
Veronica let out a cold laugh. “You can’t even take this little bit of humiliation? Back when you were fooling around behind my mother’s back, did you ever think about how she felt lying sick in bed?”
“Veronica, David roared
“You’re lying,” Linda shouted.
Their voices rang out at the same time, the couple so furious that they lost all reason and rushed at Veronica, ready
lay hands on her.
Veronica sneered. Before they could even touch her, her two bodyguards stepped forward and seized Linda and David, one on each
side.

Veronica folded her arms, watching the couple coldly. “Already llying into a rage and wanting to fight me? We’re only just getting started”
David was so angry that he was nearly breathless, and Linda’s chest heaved wildly, as if she might be driven to death by fury.
As for Chloe and Grace, they could only stand to the side, glaring helplessly. Chloe’s hatred for Veronica was written all over her face. Grace, on the other hand, kept her head lowered, quietly playing the victim.

Chapter 12
Veronica thought, Grace really does know how to draw attention. I have to admit, this trick of hers has won her quite a bit of sympathy
“What a fool,” Alexander remarked again from a distance, his words aimed at Veronica.
Stephen shot Alexander a glare. “That’s enough out of you. She’s a good girl.”
Alexander sneered, “Grandpa, it’s fine if you think she’s a good girl. Just don’t try to push her onto me. He thought, ‘I don’t want a fiancée who shows no regard for her own family’s dignity.
Stephen was enraged. “What’s wrong with Veronica? You’d be lucky if a girl like her even gave you the time of day.”
He narrowed his eyes as he looked at the two people standing beside Veronica, thinking, ‘But these two young men look a little familiar
Because of Veronica’s disruption, the dinner party could no longer go on. The guests said their goodbyes one after another. David and Linda were driven out by Mason, while Veronica was asked to stay.
“Well, Ronie, do you still blame me?” Mason looked at Veronica, a little uneasy.
Veronica shook her head,
Mason’s eyes lit up. “Your father is a douche. Ronie, you can live at Weston Manor if you want. There are plenty of rooms here.
“Thank you, Grandpa, Veronica chuckled but declined. “I still have things to do back home.”
Noticing that Mason seemed puzzled, Veronica smiled, a glimmer of mischief and amusement flashing in her eyes. She thought, ‘David’s family thinks getting humiliated in public is enough? We’ve only just begun. I’ll make them pay for what they’ve done to my mother.
Mason knew persuasion would be useless, so he only reminded Veronica that if she was ever bullied, she could always tell him, and he would stand up for her.
As Veronica looked at Mason’s white hair and the genuine concern on his face, her expression softened a little. “I will”
From the diary Claudia’s father had left behind, Veronica knew that Mason had disapproved of David’s vile actions back then. So she would not hold Mason accountable for her mother’s suffering. Her revenge was aimed only at David and Linda.
When Veronica left Weston Manor and returned to Weston Villa, she was unsurprisingly shut out once again. Veronica chuckled and pulled a small cutting machine from behind her.
“Ms. Weston, should I do it?” Alicia stepped forward to ask.
Veronica waved her off. “No need. I’ve done this before”
The buzzing of the machine broke out. While everyone inside their rooms pretended to be asleep, still confused about what was happening, a loud bang followed, and then the shrill, piercing sound of the alarm blared.
Chloe screamed, “Oh my goodness, we’re being robbed”
Grace shouted, “Mom, there’s a thief in the house.”
The
sisters
rushed out of their rooms dressed in pajamas, their hair disheveled. They collided with David and Linda, who had also come running out. They nearly tumbled face–first onto the floor.
The lights downstairs blazed on. Veronica, holding the cutting machine and standing on the broken door panel, lifted her head, her brows arched as she flashed a harmless smile. She spoke sweetly, “Did I wake you?”
The four upstairs were stunned. David stormed down in a rage Linda pointed at Veronica, shaking with fury as she yelled, “How could you do this? Have you no shame?
In just one day, Linda had already been driven mad by Veronica. Linda now doubted her decision back then and regretted ever agreeing 10 let Veronica return from the village.
Veronica pressed her lips into a smile. “Linda, when it comes to shamelessness, I still have so much to learn from you.”
With a sharp crack, a vase shattered at Veronica’s feet. She looked up, calmly staring at the furious David across from her. “Are you planning to kill me?”
David roared, “Hell yeah. I’m gonna kill you, you ungrateful brat.”

Veronica sneered, “Oh, really? Then don’t expect me to hold back anymore.”
