Chapter 8
Nora trembled, her skin crawling beneath the filthy hands pawing at her.
A nauseating hatred surged from her gut–raw, primal, uncontrollable.
How could she have ever loved someone like him?
“Damn, she’s got a great body. Babe, wear this next time we screw–I’ll go crazy.”
Back at the villa, Chase had just finished admiring Camila’s cat–ear lingerie when he reached for
the surveillance remote.
“Let me check the feed–not sure those thugs know how to stop themselves. I specifically said to scare her, not actually touch her.”
He did know his limits.
Nora was still his wife. He wouldn’t really hurt her.
Camila’s eyes flickered with guilt, but it vanished as quickly as it came and wrapped her arms
around him, fingers trailing along his waist.
“But Chase… this is our first time since I got pregnant. Don’t you want to try something… new?”
“Not now.”
Still ignored, Camila straddled his lap and slipped her hand beneath his belt…
His breathing grew ragged.
Whatever restraint he had left snapped like a dry twig.
He pinned her to the bed.
“Please… don’t… don’t…”
Nora fought them with everything she had.
“I’ll pay you–double, triple whatever he gave you just let me go. Please…”
The men just grinned.
“Sorry sweetheart, your husband made it very clear–told us to ‘take good care of you.”

They laughed crudely, arguing over who would go first as they began unbuckling their belts and lunged toward her.
“NO-!”
Before they could touch her, a thunderous series of thuds tore through the room.
One by one, the men were thrown to the floor.
In the chaos, a tall, imposing man stepped into view.
His gaze swept over the attackers like they were vermin.
“Who the hell are you?” one of them stammered, scrambling back.
The man didn’t answer. His voice was calm, icy.
“You? Not even worth my
He looked toward the door.

“Drag them to the Faulkner Estate. Lock them in the Black room.”
Then he turned to Nora.
She was ghost–pale, shaking so hard she could barely breathe.
He frowned and didn’t hesitate–he scooped her into his arms.
“Come with me.”
The car sped down the road.
Nora curled up in the back seat, watching the man’s reflection in the rearview mirror.
His lips were pressed into a firm line, his features sharp and cold–almost otherworldly.
She hesitated.
“Can we… stop at the next right turn?”
“Why?” His tone was as frosty as his face.
She nodded gently.

Chapter 8
“The county clerk’s office is right there. I made an appointment… I’m filing for divorce today.”
Silence settled in the car.
After a pause, he said, “Alright.”
When she stepped out of the County Clerk’s Office, the sky looked bluer than ever.
Back in the car, the weight on her chest finally lifted.
She was free.
The marriage–every lie, every scar–was over.
From now on, she was going to live her life on her terms.
No more ties to Chase.
Not ever again.
