“Wait,” Liam’s father said, his face paling.
“Are you talking about the Alexander Sterling? The heir to the Sterling fortune?”
Arthur nodded gravely.

“Dad, that’s a pipe dream. The Sterlings are on a whole other level. They’re the wealthiest family in the country, and we’re barely a blip on their radar. There’s no way we can get close to him.”
Everyone at the table fell silent.
The Sterling family’s wealth and influence were the stuff of legend.
Alexander, the youngest heir and chosen successor, was notoriously private.
Few people had ever seen him, and even fewer had spoken to him.
Arthur, however, seemed unbothered by their doubts.
“That plot of land for the Paradise Resort? It already belongs to the Sterlings.
Word is, Alexander has been put in charge of the entire project.
If we can get on his good side, our odds will improve significantly.”
Liam shook his head.
“Grandpa, that’s easier said than done. Half the country would kill for a meeting with him. What makes you think we’ll even get close?”
Arthur’s gaze sharpened.
“Who said anything about traveling to meet him? Alexander has been living in Riverdale for the past three years. Right here in our city.”
The revelation stunned everyone.
“Why would he move here?”
Liam asked, his brows furrowed.
“His grandmother’s health,” Arthur explained.
“She’s originally from Riverdale. Three years ago, she relocated here for treatment, and Alexander came with her.”
“They’ve been living in Evergreen Manor ever since.”
The name sent a ripple through the room.
Evergreen Manor was a sprawling estate nestled in the hills, shrouded in mystery.
Few had ever been inside, and rumors had swirled for years about the identity of its owner..
“So, now what?” Emma asked.

“How do we approach him?”
Arthur smiled faintly, reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out two invitations.
“Tomorrow is his grandmother’s 70th birthday.”
“Tor the first time, the Sterlings are throwing an open event, inviting all the prominent families in Riverdale. And we’re on the guest list.”
He slid the invitations across the table toward Liam and Scarlett.
“Liam, Scarlett, you’ll both attend. Prepare a proper gift, and make sure you get close to Alexander. If we can leave a lasting impression, it’ll be worth its weight in gold.”
The room fell quiet as the weight of the task settled over them.
“Enough business talk,” Vivian said, breaking the tension.
“Dinner’s not the time for all this. And speaking of important things…”
Her eyes glinted mischievously as she turned to Liam and Scarlett.
“I’ve already had the master bedroom prepared for you two tonight. It’s about time you acted like a proper couple.”
“Who knows? Maybe we’ll get some happy news soon.”
Liam’s face darkened. “I have plans tonight.”
Vivian’s expression hardened. She slammed her hand on the table.
“You’ll stay in tonight, Liam. If you so much as set foot out that door, I’ll make sure she regrets it.”
Scarlett, sitting quietly, hid a smirk behind a delicate bite of steak.
She was curious. How far would Liam go for Chloe?
