Chapter 1
“Another round?”
The man’s voice was deep and smooth, a rich baritone tinged with the kind of raspy allure that could wrap itself around your heart and squeeze,
Scarlett glanced down at the floor.
There they were–his suit jacket tangled with a lacy bra, her ripped dress, and the heels that had somehow rolled under the couch.
Every bit of it was evidence of the wild, reckless passion that had just unfolded.
“Nope, I’m done. Too tired,” Scarlett replied flatly.
Honestly, she’d been on the verge of begging for mercy just moments ago.
Yet, even as she spoke, her fingers reached out to trail along the chiseled lines of his abs, bold and unrepentant.
The man caught her wandering hand, his grip firm but not harsh.
His voice was still low, still magnetic, but now carried an edge of restraint.
“Don’t tempt me. I can only hold back so much.”
Scarlett’s lips curved into a teasing smile.
She was already stunning, but in that moment–with her dark eyes sparkling like stars, lips painted a fiery red, and ebony waves cascading over her bare shoulders–she was devastating. The tiny beauty mark near her eye shifted slightly as her grin deepened, like a rose blooming under the moonlight.
The man’s gaze darkened.
Her lazy, feline grace only stoked the fire in his chest.
He wanted her all over again.
“Don’t be so stingy,” she teased, her tone light and playful. “You’ll miss me when you can’t touch me anymore.”
Scarlett’s smile lingered, bright and carefree.
But then, without warning, his expression froze, his jaw tightening as his mood shifted.
“What do you mean by that?”
Throwing back the thin sheet, Scarlett rose gracefully, quickly pulling on her clothes.
From her bag, she produced a check and handed it to him.
“Five hundred thousand,” she said with a breezy smile.
“Consider it a parting gift. Oh, and this house? It’s yours too.”
The man stared at the check in his hand, his face devoid of any excitement at the staggering amount.
“Scarlett, are you trying to dump me?”
His voice was like a storm cloud, low and heavy with restrained fury.

Still as composed as ever, Scarlett reached out to cup his chin, leaning in to place a soft kiss on his lips.
“My husband’s back. It’s not exactly appropriate for me to keep… entertaining myself. This is goodbye.”
His face darkened further.
Scarlett laughed softly and planted another quick kiss on his lips.
“Be good, okay? If you ever run into trouble, you know you can call me.”
She slung her bag over her shoulder and left the room without a backward glance.
Not long after, the sound of something shattering echoed from inside.
Scarlett kept walking, her expression calm but tinged with a hint of resignation.
She’d kept him for three years.
There hadn’t been any real love, but there had been some fondness. A sudden, clean break like this wasn’t easy to take, she supposed.
Once outside, she got in her car and headed straight to the airport.
Her husband, Liam, had left for three years with his mistress in tow.
Now, after caving to family pressure, he was finally coming back.
