The Montgomery family dinner was held at the Grandview Oceanfront, the city’s most prestigious banquet hall.
“Mr. Montgomery, so good to see you!”
“Your tech company this year has done so well–you must include us in next year’s new projects!”
“Yes, the Montgomery family producing someone of your caliber is truly extraordinary.”
Phoenix’s abilities were widely recognized, so there were especially many people trying to network
with him.
I didn’t like dealing with businesspeople, so I stayed not far behind him, listening.
Several of the younger Montgomery family members also came to greet Phoenix, but didn’t dare
linger long.
A few who recognized me didn’t dare ask too many questions.
“Aria!”
“I knew you’d come!”
Garrett’s voice rang out behind me. I turned to see him and Willow standing together.
“You blocked me, so I had Willow message you to come to the family dinner with me.”
“You came, which means you’re not angry anymore, right?”
Willow’s eyes held some resentment and confusion–perhaps she hadn’t expected me to show up
here either.
Seeing Garrett take my hand and try to coax me, her eyes turned even redder with anger.
“I didn’t come to this family dinner for you.”

“Garrett, I’m already married.”
I pushed Garrett’s hand away and took a step back.
But Garrett didn’t take it seriously, smiling as he moved closer.
“I know you’re angry, so you’re using a fake certificate to upset me and fool me, right?”
“Aria, stop making a scene.”
I frowned and dodged away, feeling annoyed.
“I really did get married.”
Garrett chuckled and pulled up a message on his phone, showing it to me.
“I already had Willow schedule our marriage license appointment. If you really got married, how
could we still make an appointment?”
“Besides, who else could you possibly marry besides me?”
Garrett looked completely matter–of–fact, appearing quite punchable.
I looked around but couldn’t find Phoenix anywhere.
I should have stayed glued to Phoenix’s side earlier.
‘Garrett, that text appointment wasn’t sent to me.”
‘You should check whose names Willow put on the application.”
pulled up the provocative message Willow had sent me on my phone and showed it to Garrett.
Looking at the message screen, Garrett’s brow furrowed tighter and tighter.
He turned around, his cold stare fixed on Willow.
‘Who told you to send that kind of message to Aria?”
The marriage license application you scheduled was for you and me?”
Willow opened her mouth to explain but was cut off by Garrett’s slap.

Chapter 7
“What do you think you are–worthy of getting a marriage license with me?”
“I only helped you out of pity. Did you really think you were some Cinderella meeting her prince?”
Garrett showed no mercy, unleashing his fury on Willow.
The young girl cried hysterically, apologizing repeatedly.
“I’m sorry…”
Garrett turned back to me, smiling ingratiatingly.
“She messed up again. This time I’ll definitely fire her.”
“Aria, don’t be angry.”
“This time I’ll make the appointment myself!”
Garrett pulled out his phone and started operating it, but the application kept failing to submit.
“Why won’t the application go through!”
“Why!”
Watching Garrett break down in front of me, I thought of myself hysterically questioning him before.
“Because she’s already married to me.”
A cool voice came through, and everyone looked toward the sound.
Phoenix was walking toward me step by step, holding an enormous bouquet of red roses.
