Jaelynn paused to think, then shook her head.
“Mr. Calhoun, your offer is one I can’t refuse. But it’s me who needs your help, and yet your proposal gives me the final say.
“There are plenty of well–known designers in New York, and I’m not famous. Even if my second piece is released, it won’t hold much value for collectors. But designing a second piece for the Calhoun family would allow me to benefit from your reputation.”
Agustin wasn’t surprised by her sharp insight.
“Ms. Norton, I genuinely admire your work. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement.”
Jaelynn said, “Mr. Calhoun, as for my second piece, we can finalize the details later.”
She couldn’t find a reason to refuse.
At that moment, the secretary knocked and entered with coffee and refreshments.
“Mr. Calhoun, Dr. Finch has arrived.”
Jaelynn sat down for the doctor’s examination.
The doctor, Callum Finch, said, “The bruise on your
ur arm hasn’t affected the bone. It’s just soft tissue damage, not too severe. Apply the medication daily and avoid straining it for the next few days. If it hasn’t healed in a week, go to the hospital.”
Okay, thank you, Dr. Finch.”
Jaelynn felt a wave of relief.
She turned to Agustin and shook his hand. “Mr. Calhoun, I look forward to a smooth collaboration.”
“Sure,” he said, his eyes softening into a warm smile.”
The jewelry exhibition entered its final promotional stage.”
There were seven days left.
Since the elevator incident, Javon and Jaelynn hadn’t crossed paths.
Over the past two days, he’d been buried in preparations for the collaboration with the Calhoun family, handling a heavy workload every day.
Yet he couldn’t understand why he felt so restless.
Jerome approached, carrying some documents.
‘Mr. Bradford, the jewelry exhibition is confirmed to open this Friday at 10 AM.”
Javon’s hand paused mid–motion.
For some reason, hearing that the exhibition was progressing smoothly threw him off balance.
At a time like this, Jaelynn should be by his side, helping him handle things.
Why was she being so selfish, taking charge of a project that didn’t even matter to him?
He glared at the document, anger flashing in his eyes.
Jerome hesitated, seizing what he thought might be his last chance to speak. “Mr. Bradford, Ms. Norton is about to…”
“I don’t want to hear anything about her. Don’t come to me bluffing. I don’t have time for this.
Javon cut Jerome off sharply, then signed the document and tossed it aside.
He added, “Her matters aren’t important to me.”
“Yes, Mr. Bradford.”
Jerome shut his mouth, realizing he’d overstepped.

Apparently, Javon didn’t care about Jaelynn’s resignation.
At 10 PM.
Jaelynn finished the final work handover and packed her things to head downstairs.
Javon drove his car out of the garage and happened to see her from the entrance.
He stopped, sitting in the car and watching her from a distance.
For reasons he couldn’t explain, his heart skipped a beat. Without thinking, he stepped out.
After only two paces, he stopped and let out a self–deprecating scoff.
Why would Jaelynn leave? She had always been there, by his side.
It had been that way in the past, and it would always be that way in the future.
He could see her whenever he wanted.
Javon firmly believed that Jaelynn had never changed.
In the next moment, he got back into the car and drove away.
Jaelynn stood at the main entrance, glancing back one last time.
Three years had passed.
Her work and her emotions had ended here. From now on, she would start a new life.
On the day of the jewelry exhibition, Javon brought Shayla to the Calhoun Group.

“Mr. Bradford, if your secretary isn’t prepared with the materials, I suggest we end this meeting,” Turner said, clearly losing patience, rising from
his chair.
“Sorry,” Javon said, frustration prickling his nerves.
A near–success had suddenly turned into failure.
As they exited, Turner added pointedly, “This isn’t the first time the Calhoun and Bradford groups have collaborated. Mr. Bradford, your previous work wouldn’t have allowed such a mistake. Did you change your secretary?”
Javon froze, and the realization hit him.
With Jaelynn, his life had been meticulously managed. She had smoothed over every business challenge.
Now, without her, mistakes like this happened.
He stormed out of the room.
“Mr. Bradford, wait for me,” Shayla called out urgently, still struggling to gather the scattered documents.
Javon didn’t hesitate, and he immediately called Marcus.
Transfer Jaelynn back to the secretarial department. I need her.”
On the other end of the line, Marcus’s voice carried bad news.
‘Mr. Bradford, Ms. Norton has resigned. Yesterday was her last day at the company.”
Javon froze, eyes widening in shock. He stood motionless, stunned.
