Chapter 3
I followed the sound of the gunshot and saw Robert walking slowly toward Emily. His face was still expressionless, but a hint of murderous intent could be seen in his eyes.
He reached her, gently stretched out a hand, and ruffled her hair. “Sorry, I was late.”
Emily grabbed his arm, like she was about to say something when a bunch of his suit–wearing bodyguards rushed into the restaurant and surrounded the fat guy and his crew.
“Take Emi downstairs to rest.”
As soon as Emily was gone, the fat man dropped to his knees like a scared little bird, bowing his head again and again. But Robert didn’t even glance at him.
He stepped on the guy’s hand without hesitation and walked straight toward me.
Just when I thought he finally noticed my injury and was going to help me up, he pressed the cold barrel of his gun against my forehead.
“When did you find out about Emi?”
So that’s what he thought–this was all my doing.
“Robert, I saved her…”
Bang!
The bullet hit my right leg, and I screamed in pain–it was unbearable.

“I don’t like your answer,” he said coldly, then suddenly turned to the fat guy. “Now you answer me.”
The fat man was shaking like a leaf, sweat pouring down his face. He looked around nervously and then pointed a trembling finger at me.
“Mr. Johnson, it’s… It’s her! She was the one who told us to mess with Emily! She said if we slept with Emily, she’d let us work for you and be part of something big!”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” I stared at him in shock.
Robert’s fingers dug into my chin, his voice colder than the barrel of his gun. “Sarah, today I’ll show you what it means to reap what you sow.
“You men–take turns. When you’re done, I’ll forget this ever happened.”
My blood froze.
“No! You can’t do this to me, Robert! I’m your wife!”
The fat man grinned, obscene and shameless. “Don’t worry, Mr. Johnson. We’ll make sure you’re satisfied.”
In the next second, they were on me like beasts, ignoring the bullet wound in my leg, tearing at my clothes as if my pain meant nothing.
“Monsters!” My voice broke. “Robert–you’re nothing but a monster!”
At the door, his tall frame paused… then turned away.
At that moment, I wished more than anything that my wound would just kill me so I wouldn’t have to go through this shame.
“Whoa, still a virgin. This is without loss at all!” The fat man laughed excitedly.

The guard returned, pity flickering in his eyes as he handed me my torn dress. “Mrs. Johnson, should I take you to the hospital?”
Yeah, I had a wound on my head and a bullet in my leg. But after everything, the blood had already dried.
I forced myself up from the floor, quietly got dressed, then grabbed my phone from the bag on the table.
“John, move up the plan. I want you to erase my identity.
“I want Robert to never find me again.”
