Chapter 7
Seth returned that night and ordered the staff to pack a bag immediately.[]
“Today was the first and last time I clean up your mess,” he told Fiona, his brow furrowed. “Stop the jealousy. Stop the scheming.“[
He paused. “Eleanor’s shaken. She needs support. I’ll stay with her for a few days. Don’t worry, I won’t marry her. Won’t be alone with her. The kids will be with us.“[]
The irony was breathtaking.]]
Not marrying her? He’d had children with her.[]
Not alone? Just a cozy family of four![]
Fiona didn’t mind. The quiet suited her just fine.[]
The day the divorce decree became final arrived. Fiona held the dark red document. It felt like waking from a long, bad dream.[]
She was packing the last suitcase when Eleanor stormed in, flanked by bodyguards.[]
“Playing hard to get? Running away?” Eleanor sneered at the luggage. “Trash always has tricks!“]
Fiona saw the calculation in Eleanor’s eyes. Done with the drama, she simply handed over the divorce papers.[]
“Give this to Seth. The position of Mrs. Sterling is vacant. I won’t be back.“]
Eleanor snatched them, flipping through the pages. Wild triumph flashed across her face.
Then, it twisted into something vicious. “Sorry, darling. But the only ex with zero threat… is a dead one.” []
She leaned in, venom dripping. “I will be Mrs. Sterling. And those little brats of yours? Oh, I’ll ruin them.“]]
So. Seth still hadn’t told her. Fiona almost laughed.[]
Connor and Chloe adored her, defended her… and she called them brats.[]
Before Fiona could speak, a crushing blow landed on her head. Darkness swallowed her.[]
She woke to the roar of wind. Bound hand and foot.[]
Rigged with explosives. Behind her: a sheer drop into nothingness. Terror clawed up her throat.]
Beside her, also bound, sat Eleanor. []
Hatress contorted Eleanor’s beautiful face. “Thinking you got to bear Seth’s children just because you look like me? It makes me sick! I want you to watch him choose me. Watch your children choose me. Then? I want you blown to bits! Only then will I be satisfied!“]

Suddenly, Eleanor’s expression melted into pure, trembling fear.]
Seth had arrived with the twins.[]
The kidnapper’s voice was rough. “Ransom’s paid. I’ll release one. Choose!”

“Not an option!” the kidnapper snarled. “Pick one. Or they both die!“]
The children panicked instantly.[]
“Daddy! Save Aunt Eleanor! We only want her!“]]
“Mommy’s extra! She embarrasses us! If she dies, Aunt Eleanor can be our new mommy!“]]
Seth started to reprimand them, but his assistant leaned in, whispering urgently. Fiona saw Seth’s face harden, anger flashing in his eyes.]
The kidnapper… the brother of that man from the club.
Fiona’s doing. Again. Still.]

“And the other one? Your wife, I hear?” the kidnapper taunted.[]

The kidnapper hesitated.]
“Triple it!” Fiona rasped.[]
The relentless beeping stopped. The kidnapper cut her bonds. Shaking, Fiona collapsed on the cliff edge, gasping.
She forced herself up. Time to disappear.[]
Back at the sterile mansion, Fiona grabbed her documents.
Seth’s computer screen still showed the family photo – the lie frozen in time.]
