Compliments flooded in from every direction, and the dragons were brimming with pride. But instead of basking in praise, they became more diligent in expanding their wealth.
“When our clan leader ascends as the Chieftain of the Beastfolk, our clan shall prosper beyond reckoning!”
Half a year later, my time came, but the birth was astonishingly easy. Within moments, I delivered three dragon eggs.
Staring at the three dragon eggs in my arms, I was dumbfounded. “Weren’t we supposed to have babies? Why are they eggs?”
Draken softly kissed my forehead. “Dragons don’t breed like other beastfolk. We lay eggs, and the little ones will hatch in time. It spares the mother much pain.”
My mind drifted back to my past life, where I’d nearly died in the birthing chamber and given birth to a weak, sickly cub despite the suffering.
But then again… Kael had poor genes and was infertile. Carrying that cub completely drained my body, and the cub was so weak that it took a full year of meticulous care just to pull through.
This time, everything was different. From the moment I conceived, Draken scoured the clan for rare delicacies and tonics. I had ten housekeepers caring for my every whim and was forbidden from doing any work. He’d fed me into a glowing, healthy young woman.
After the birth, the three dragon eggs were casually placed into an incubator by Draken and handed off to the clan’s caretakers for hatching, who left beaming with joy.
After I’d given the dragon clan its heir, there were celebrations across the dragonlands, but Draken only had eyes for me.
He stayed by my side, brewing herbs and taking care of every detail in my life. He never once glanced at the eggs

I’d nearly bled out in the birthing chamber. And before I could recover, he’d shoved the cub into my arms and demanded I
start feeding it.
He believed bearing heirs was simply a female’s duty. Every female had gone through it, so there was nothing to fuss about.
But now, I knew that a man who truly loved me put me first.
Not long after the lying–in, the clan caretakers returned with glowing faces and the hatchery chest. “Lord Vorgath, the little ones are breaking through!”
In the padded chest, the three dragon eggs trembled slightly. Soon, cracks spiderwebbed their surfaces as I watched with awe
and expectancy.
These were Draken’s hatchlings… our hatchlings!
With a sudden burst of light, three hatchlings burst forth from their shells. Purple–gold rays streaked through the sky, and celestial clouds scattered across the heavens. Birds soared and cried out in unison above the dragonlands.
“By the gods… Half–beasts with Aetherblood!”
All the beastfolk beheld the omen as cheers thundered across valleys and peaks.
“The gods have returned! Our people will rise again!”
“Draken Vorgath of the dragons is undoubtedly the chieftain!”
The three hatchlings waddled from the hatching chest to my feet and nuzzled my hands affectionately. With a bright shimmer of white light, they transformed into three plump, rosy–cheeked babies.
I melted on the spot. Kissing one, then another, I touched their faces as if I could never get enough.
In the end, Draken grew jealous. With a sulky face, he plucked all three from my arms and handed them off to the caretakers.
The caretakers assigned to the task could barely contain their joy and even fought over who would get to care for the
hatchlings.
