Chapter

I immediately had Vivian investigate this VP Lee.]

The results came back quickly and sent chills down my spine.[

VP Lee’s company was the winner in that commercial fraud case from three years agoNora’s very first client

And the tech company that Nora and Marcus had destroyed together? It had been their strongest competitor

A dark chain of interests slowly unfolded before me.

Marcus wasn’t mentoring any junior colleague

He was cultivating the perfect clean hands.

He exploited Nora’s youth and ambition, having her carry out those dirty deals

When they won, the credit went to Nora, the profits to him

If they lost, or got caught, Nora would be the scapegoat he could sacrifice at any time

And Nora, that fool drunk on love, knew nothing about it.[]

She even recorded gleefully in her diary how Marcus helpedher, how he strategized brilliantly.”

She thought it was love. Really, it was just exploitation

Looking at the evidence on my computer, I felt a chill of retroactive fear

If I hadn’t discovered that lipstick order, if I’d chosen to swallow my anger and stay quiet

Would Marcus’s next step have been using me to accomplish an even bigger scheme?

He might have already started.

I forced myself to stay calm

The cards in my hand were heavier than I’d imagined

I wasn’t just seeking revenge for myselfI was going to get justice for that company they’d destroyed together

First, I contacted the founder of that tech company from three years ago, Mr. William.

When the call connected, the voice on the other end was full of exhaustion and weariness

Who is this?”

Mr. William, my name is Harper Jenkins. I’m an attorney.”

I briefly explained my purpose and the evidence I possessed.[

Long silence on the other end

I could hear his heavy breathing, as if he were struggling to suppress something

Ms. Jenkins,he finally spoke, voice hoarse and trembling, is what you’re saying true?

Absolutely true.]

I need you as my attorney. His voice suddenly rose, full of three years of suppressed rage and resentment

I want to sue them! I want to sue Marcus, sue Nora, sue Sterling & Associates! I want them ruined and rotting in prison!“]

Mr. William, you can count on it,I promised. Justice may be late, but it will never be absent.”

After hanging up, I immediately drafted appeal documents and criminal complaint materials

This time, I was sending them straight to hell.

At the same time-

Sterling & Associatesstock price hit the limit down for several consecutive days.

Under internal and external pressure, the firm began falling apart

Several senior partners publicly distanced themselves from Marcus to protect themselves, providing even more evidence of his violations

Instantly, Marcus became a pariah everyone wanted to destroy.

His properties and accounts were all frozen

He fell from the firm’s pedestal overnight, completely shattered.

And Nora, learning she might face criminal charges, completely broke down.[
