After the previous night’s confession, Nina woke up feeling momentarily dazed, as if yesterday’s flutter had
been a dream.
It wasn’t until she saw Oliver’s good morning text reminding her about their date today that Nina’s lips. unconsciously curved upward.
The art exhibit had a great atmosphere. Nina and Oliver strolled like any ordinary couple past painting after
painting, occasionally chatting quietly.
Oliver naturally took her hand, fingers intertwined, the warmth from his palm reassuring.
Nina couldn’t help but laugh softly, eyes sparkling.
But this warm atmosphere didn’t last long.
Around a corner, Nina’s smile froze instantly. Following her gaze, Oliver immediately frowned.
Declan had appeared here again like a persistent ghost, standing not far away, staring intently at their
intertwined hands.
Nina took a deep breath and walked toward Declan alone.
This time, her face showed only icy calm.
“Declan.” She stopped in front of him, voice completely flat.
“As you can see, I have a boyfriend now. We’re happy together.”
She paused. “I got your apology, but I don’t accept it. Please stop bothering me and the people I care about.
Whatever we had is OVER.”
He looked into her emotionless eyes, unable to say a single word.
All his clinging and regret had become a joke.
Nina finished speaking, turned back to Oliver’s side, and took his hand again.
“Let’s go.”
Oliver nodded, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as they left the exhibit. From start to finish, she didn’t spare Declan another glance.

Declan stood alone, watching their retreating figures, finally understanding that he’d lost her forever.
Completely devastated, Declan returned home.
The empty house still held traces of Nina’s past presence. He drowned himself in alcohol daily, trying to numb his longing with booze, but it was useless.
One day while cleaning, Declan found a diary in the corner–written in twenty–eight–year–old Declan’s
handwriting!
He opened it with trembling hands.
[January 2nd: I fought with Nina about divorcing her for Ruby. Nina refused, crying hysterically. But it’s weird–I used to feel heartbroken seeing her cry, but now I just feel annoyed. I guess I really don’t love her
anymore.]
[February 8th: To make Nina divorce me, I bankrupted her family’s company and even strapped bombs to her parents just to get her to sign the papers. She signed but coughed up blood right in front of me. Later at the hospital, they said she got cancer. She didn’t fight or scream, just asked me with red eyes why the eighteen–year–old me promised to love her forever, but the twenty–eight–year–old me didn’t love her anymore. So naive–people change.]
[March 4th: Ruby and I got married. Happiest day of my life.]
[April 10th: Company’s having cash flow problems. Ruby used all her savings to help me, even sold her mother’s jewelry. I owe her so much. A woman like Nina could never compare to Ruby.]
[May 8th: The CFO told me Ruby transferred huge amounts under my name, claiming it was for overseas
investments… but that project doesn’t even exist!]
[June 11th: Found out the truth… Ruby stole ALL my assets! She’s been keeping some boy toy overseas! She
was using me from the beginning, just wanted the Hayes family wealth and status. I threw away Nina, who truly loved me, for this poisonous snake… What karma!]

Ten years later, he’d destroyed Nina so completely.
And Ruby had been running a calculated con from the moment she approached him!
Massive rage instantly shattered Declan’s rationality. He grabbed the diary and stormed out.
He found Ruby hiding alone in a rental apartment.
The second she saw Declan, she screamed and tried to slam the door, but he forced his way in.
“AH! Declan, let GO of me!” Ruby struggled in terror, tears streaming instantly.
Declan held up the diary in front of her, eyes bloodshot.
“Ruby, your acting skills are INCREDIBLE! You played me–you played the future me–like a total fool!”
Seeing the diary, Ruby went white as a sheet. “No, it’s not like that! Let me explain–I don’t know what this
is…”
“Explain?” Declan laughed coldly.
He stood up, coldly instructing the two bodyguards who’d followed him: “Take her.”
Ruby was roughly dragged away to an abandoned basement owned by the Hayes family.
The dark, damp environment made her scream in terror.
‘Declan, I was wrong! Please let me go! For all the love I had for you!”
She crawled to Declan’s side, desperately begging, trying one last desperate gambit.
Declan showed no mercy, looking down at her with pure mockery.
He slowly walked to the side, tossing an iron rod to the bodyguard, voice ice–cold without any warmth.
Ninety–nine hits. Not one less. Let her remember Nina’s pain.”
Ruby’s eyes went wide with horror as she let out an ear–splitting scream: “NO! AHHH-!”
BANG!”
The bodyguard brought the rod down on her repeatedly, heavy thuds echoing through the basement mixed with her bone–chilling screams and pleas.
