Go get the Alpha from the Moonlight Bar. He’s drunk.
Scarlett gritted her teeth and drove to the bar.
The engine roared in the night as she practically flew there.
She pushed open the heavy door, and the air, thick with smoke, alcohol, and sweat, hit her.
Rocco was slumped over the bar, surrounded by more than a dozen empty bottles.
Whiskey, vodka, tequila–he hadn’t discriminated.
“Caterina…” he slurred, clutching his phone. “My Luna… she’s coming for me… she’ll come…”

“Rocco, it’s me, Scarlett.” She tried to help him up, her hand touching his soaked shirt.
“Get off!” he shoved her away violently. A bottle toppled over, spilling amber liquid on the floor. “I want Caterina! Only
Caterina!”
The werewolves in the bar turned to watch them.
Whispers began to spread.
“Enough!” Scarlett screamed, her voice shrill over the music. “Caterina doesn’t want you, Rocco! She’s marrying another Alpha!”
“She wouldn’t!” Rocco staggered to his feet, nearly falling, his voice growing louder. “Caterina loves me! Her wolf only recognizes me as its Alpha!”
The music suddenly stopped.
All eyes were on them.
“Then why did she leave?” Scarlett sneered, her voice cutting through the silent bar. “Because you treated her like my
substitute!”
A flicker of clarity sparked in Rocco’s eyes, as if the alcohol had momentarily burned away.
“Yeah,” he said, a bitter laugh tearing from his throat. “I treated my Lo
like a stand–in.”
He turned to the watching pack members, the werewolves who had once respected him.
“You want to know the truth?” His voice was loud in the silence. “Scarlett was never injured during the hunt.”
“Rocco, what are you saying?” The color drained from Scarlett’s face.
“She deliberately sent those mind–link records to Caterina,” Rocco said, each word a nail hammering into her. “She deliberately faked an injury on our anniversary, just to destroy my Mate Bond with Caterina.”
The whispers in the bar grew louder.
Someone took out their phone and started recording.
“And I, like an idiot, played along with her act for six years.”
Rocco’s voice was filled with despairing self–mockery.
Realizing it was all over, Scarlett threw her head back and laughed, a raw, unhinged sound.
“That’s right! I did it on purpose!” she screeched, pointing at Rocco. “But Caterina is never coming back!”
Her voice grew more and more hysterical.
“And a worthless traitor like you deserves to be with a rotten person like me!”
