Chapter 6
The person who had zero clue was Bradley.
I sensed a resentful gaze on me almost immediately. I could tell where it was coming from without even looking.
At that very moment, Chad raised his glass and began, “We, the Garvins, will be celebrating a wonderful occasion soon. The main reason we’re having a family dinner tonight is to discuss the couple’s upcoming wedding.”
Before Chad could finish his speech, Bradley butted in, “Dad, you don’t have to worry about it. As for the marriage certificate… We’ve already received it. Right, Julia?”
He signaled to me with a glance to go along with his statement.
I took a sip of water and remained silent. I kept thinking about what he just said.
“He and Jenna… They’ve gotten their marriage certificate?” I pondered.
Bradley’s expression hardened visibly when I did not cooperate with him. His eyes blazed with anger.
My phone rang again. Bradley had sent me a series of messages.
“Julia, are you mute? Say something already!”
“Why are you keeping quiet? Stop testing my patience!”
A small frown creased my forehead. My eyes reflected my annoyance. I pressed the button to block his number the next
instant.
Finally, I could have some peace.
Meanwhile, Bradley was still busy typing on his phone. Suddenly, he lifted his head and directed his gaze at me.
The look of displeasure in his eyes was replaced with one of bewilderment. Still, I could tell Bradley was furious by looking at the bulging veins on his forehead.
Terrence took in the sight before him and lifted his glass. He said slowly, “Thank you for all your warm wishes. Still, I think we should respect Julia’s opinions regarding this. After all, she’s the bride.”
I looked up at Terrence and met his affectionate gaze.
For a moment, other noises seemed to have faded into the background. I could only hear the sound of my heart thumping
loudly.
Bradley’s confidence was somehow boosted after he heard those words. He quickly added, “Uncle Terrence is right. Julia and I are the center of attention during the wedding. The two of us should decide on the details ourselves.”
Upon hearing his words, the Garvins stared at Bradley in bewilderment almost simultaneously.
Chad slammed his palm against the table and shot to his feet. His hand was shaking as he pointed at Bradley.
“We’re discussing Terrence’s wedding. What does it have to do with you?”
Bradley cast me a contemptuous glance. “That’s wonderful news! That’ll stop those sly and conniving women from trying to approach Uncle Terrence.”
I could tell what he truly meant through the look in his eyes.
It turned out I was one of those sly and conniving women who were eager to approach Terrence from Bradley’s perspective.
He seemed to have thought of something else as he blurted out next, “We can hold our wedding and Uncle Terrence’s wedding simultaneously! It’ll be a grand event with the number of guests we’ll be inviting.”

Chad could not stand it anymore. He whacked Bradley on the head.
“Bradley Garvin! We’re having a family dinner right now! This isn’t an occasion for you to be spouting all this nonsense.
“Today is an important day for us since we’re going to discuss the details of Terrence and Julia’s wedding. You can get out of here this instant if you’re still going to say all that nonsense!”
The others tried to pacify the pair of father and son. However, their remarks merely made Bradley’s face grow pale.
“Bradley, you should just stay put.”
“You shouldn’t make your dad so upset. What’s more, Terrence is here with us today.”
“Exactly! You shouldn’t embarrass yourself, especially since Terrence’s fiancée is around too!”
Bradley staggered backward and nearly fell to the floor. “Who… Who are you saying will be getting married soon?”
Before Chad could answer him, Terrence placed our intertwined hands on the table. He smiled softly. “You need to address
Julia as your aunt from now on.”
