He did not finish his sentence. Yet, there was barely veiled contempt in his eyes.
Jenna’s mother was initially my father’s mistress before she married him. She was not my biological mother. To those from prominent families in Jalenos, Jenna was no different than other illegitimate children. She should not be allowed to attend these events.
However, my father doted on Jenna more than me. That was how Jenna had permission to join various major events with the enviable status of the Sanderson family’s second daughter.
Yet, Bradley acted as if he did not notice his family’s reactions. He pulled out the chair beside his seat for Jenna.
Chad said reproachfully, “Bradley Garvin, do you have a loose screw in your head? How could you bring an outsider to our family dinner?”
Jenna flinched upon getting scolded. Her eyes were red as she clutched onto Bradley’s hand.
Bradley did not want to look bad in front of his lover. He jutted his chin out and retorted, “Jenna is Julia’s younger sister, which makes her my sister-in-law. How is she not family?”
Then, he turned his gaze to me, hoping that I would speak up for them. Yet, he ended up witnessing Terrence wiping my mouth with a napkin.
Bradley’s face darkened instantly. Still, he dared not say anything about it. Instead, he shot daggers at me.
As if he had not noticed anything, Terrence smiled and went on peeling shrimp and scooping food into my plate.
Bradley was positively fuming. He made a loud noise as he sat down. It was a hint to me that he was angry.
Yet, I could not even be bothered to spare him a glance. I simply ignored him.
The phone I left on the table started vibrating just then. I turned it on and found that it was Bradley.
“Are you doing this on purpose? You can do whatever you want, but why are you getting Uncle Terrence involved too? Have you gone nuts? Don’t forget which of us is your fiancé! Get over here right now!”
