Chapter 16
Dominic:

The moment the car pulled into the driveway, I knew I was in for a storm.
I watched as Lucy stepped out of the vehicle. Her hair is clicking sharply against the pavement. Her eyes dark with anger as they
locked onto me, and I knew that there was a firestorm of rage, frustration, and hatred.
The driver barely had time to step aside before she was striding toward me, her black coat billowing behind her like the wings of a
vengeful angel. I knew that I was in for whatever rage she was here to throw at me, however, that was the least of my concems. I was
going to have to deal with it one way or the other, and I was willing to do so.
I leaned against the entrance of the packhouse, arms crossed, watching her approach. She was stunning, always had been, but tonight,
fury made her even more lethal. It made her even more appealing to my eyes.
“Dominic.” She spat my name like a curse, her tone sharp enough to slice through steel. “What the fuck have you done? How the funk
did you actually think to do that?”
I pushed off the wall, giving her an even look. “You’ll have to be more specific, cara mia. I’ve been busy.”
She scoffed, shaking her head as she stopped in front of me. “Don’t you dare.”
I barely had time to process the slap before my face snapped to the side.
A growl rumbled in my chest, low and warning.
Lucy wasn’t fazed. She stepped closer, tilting her chin up, eyes flashing with fury.
The Fr
“I had to sneak out of my own fucking house to see you,” She is snapping at me as she looked me dead in the eye. “Do you have any
idea how much trouble I’m in because of you?”
I clenched my jaw, ignoring the sting on my cheek. “I didn’t ask you to come back.”
“No,” she snapped. “But you let them bring me back. And now my father is furious! He threatened to disown me, Dominic. He is willing
to do so because of you. He does not even want me to mention your name, let alone see you.”
“He won’t,” I said simply, prying her fingers off my shirt. “You’re his only heir. He’s not about to throw you away just because you
couldn’t stay away from me. It is not like he hasn’t threatened that to happen before, and this is not like he didn’t tell you that you are
going to be disowned before. And yet here you are, the second you ran to him. He opened his arms wide open for you to come back.”
“I did stay away. And I was more than willing to do so. I was more than willing to stay the hell away from you.” she jabbed a finger
against my chest “But you ruined that when you sent your men after me. You had them coming to bring me. You gave me an option.
Either I came by my own will or they would have to carry me here. I would have rather not have them carrying me while I flailed.”
I exhaled through my nose, running a hand through my hair. “It wasn’t my choice. It wasn’t like you were going to listen anyway. Having
the men go to you is the better option is the easier option.”

Lucy narrowed her eyes. “Bullshit.”
I tumed away, stepping inside. “Believe what you want. I wanted you to come back.”

I heard her heels click against the floor as she followed me inside, her presence just as suffocating as the conversation I’d had with my
father earlier.
“You let them take me, knowing my father would lose his mind.” She said, putting a hand on my own. “I’m going to go back. I came
here to hear what you had to say, Dominic, but it does not mean that I’m going to stay here.”
“You are not going anywhere, Lucy.” I said and she scoffed, shaking her head at me.
She let out a humorless laugh, shaking her head. “And why not, Dominic? With her being here, I’m not going to stay.”
I took a slow sip, meeting her gaze over the rim of my glass. “Because I wasn’t done with you. Whether or not she is here, you’re not
going to leave.”
Lucy froze for a second before letting out a breathless laugh, but this time, there was no humor in it, just something dark and
frustrated. It was one to reflect her anger. It was one to show me that this was not something that she liked and I knew that she was
going to give me a fuss about it.
She was going to fight me for it and she was going to do her best to get her away and normally I knew that I would give it to her.
However, today I was not in the mood for her games.
“You selfish bastard,” she whispered. “I’m not some kind of toy for you to be messing with right now.
I smirked. “I believe that you’ve called me worse, but that does not mean that you never stayed when I convinced you to.”
She walked toward me slowly, deliberate. I didn’t move as she reached up, dragging her fingers along my jaw before gripping it tightly,
forcing me to look at her.
“Tell me the truth,” she murmured. “Is it because of her? You want me to stay because of her?”
My smirk faded.
“It is, isn’t it?” Her voice was quieter now, almost disbelieving. “You’re keeping me here because of her. You don’t want me to leave
because you don’t want to keep thinking about her, because you don’t want to keep roaming around her.”
I clenched my jaw, pulling away from her grip. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
“Am I?” she countered, stepping closer again. “You have never been the type to care, Dominic. You don’t give a damn about people
leaving unless you want them to stay.”
I downed the rest of my drink and set the glass down with a sharp clink. “You’re overthinking. And you are different. You’re not like the
other people. As far as I’m concerned, you are my girlfriend.”
“No, you’re avoiding.” She said, looking at me. “As for being your girlfriend, that ended the second day you chose to sleep with her.
Needless to say, she has your child, Dominic.”

I turned away, heading toward my office, but she followed.
I stilled, my back to her.
I tumed slowly, my expression hard. “It was a mistake that happened and that mistake ended.”
She let out a scoff, crossing her arms. “Then you’re a bigger fool than I thought.”
I took a step closer, my patience wearing thin. “Careful, Lucy.”

She smirked, but there was no amusement in her eyes. “Oh, I’m being careful, Dominic. The question is… are you? The woman has your child and you’re saying that it ended? This is not going to end, Dominic. She is always going to be a part of you. She always was. And
she’s going to be now more than ever.”
I said nothing.
She tilted her head, watching me. “You don’t even realize it, do you? You don’t see what’s literally right in front of you, do you?”

“Realize what?”
“That she’s inside your head,” she whispered. “She’s under your skin. You’re keeping me here because you think it’ll fix whatever the fuck is going on inside you. Because for the first time in your life, you don’t have full control over something, and you hate it. You don’t
like not having control over things and now you find that everything is being chaotic in your life.”
I clenched my fists.
Lucy smiled, but it wasn’t sweet. It was knowing.

“You can’t even lie to yourself about it, can you?” She said, wrapping an arm around herself as she tried to calm even herself down. She was playing a game, however, that I knew was not going to be in either one of our favors.
I exhaled sharply, stepping back. “This conversation is over.”
She let me go.
But before I reached the stairs, she called after me.
“You’re not fooling anyone, Dominic.” She said before taking a step back. “I’m heading home, find another game to play, Dominic.
Because it’s not going to be on me. Not anymore…”
