My father tried to lunge at me again, but the police, who had just arrived, held him back.
His hands cuffed behind him, he cursed at me:
“You unfilial daughter! Bitch!”
I ignored him, looking only at the police.
I tilted my head, showing my swollen cheek and the dried blood on my lip.
“He suddenly broke into my company and assaulted me. The entire incident was recorded on surveillance. I still feel dizzy and nauseous, and I suspect I have a concussion.
I need to go to the hospital for further examination.”
The police took my father away.

Throughout the entire process, Alex stood there watching me, a strange light in his eyes.
“Eve, have you ever considered…”
He suddenly spoke.
“We don’t actually have to divorce?”
I looked at him expressionlessly.
“Eve, I truly regret it.”
“Now that Harding Corp is yours, we can absolutely discuss an equal partnership.”
“We’ve been married for four years. You were always so good to me before, wasn’t that because you had some feelings for me?”
“I underestimated you before because the rumors about you were pretty nasty. Plus, when you first came to me, you seemed so meek and compliant. I didn’t realize-”
He looked at me with what seemed like deep affection.
“Didn’t realize what?”
I abruptly cut him off. “Didn’t realize you’re just a scumbag, still flaunting your affair partner in front of me a few days ago, and now that you’ve found I’m not as helpless and easily exploited as you imagined, you’re suddenly interested again?”
“Or… did you lose that trade contract, Thorne Enterprises was heavily impacted, and Mr. Thorne now has to swallow his pride and come here to put on an act for me, hoping to get a piece of the pie?“
Alex’s expression instantly turned cold.
I twirled the pen in my hand, watching him with interest:
“Now that the contract is in my hands, what right do you have to talk about an equal partnership with me?”
<
“Why don’t you just kneel down and say a few sweet words, beg me properly, and maybe
I’ll actually agree.”
Alex looked utterly humiliated.
“If there’s nothing else, Mr. Thorne, please get lost.”
I politely nodded at him.
“Sign the divorce agreement and send it to me.”
“And Mr. Thorne, don’t try any more tricks. I’ve been in the Thorne family for four years; I have plenty of evidence. It’s better to maintain some decorum.”
