Chapter 6
Riley stood hidden in the shadows, feeling like an invisible hand was crushing her heart.[]
Jaxon didn’t immediately push Sophia away. Instead, he deepened the kiss.[]
Unlike when he kissed her–rough and demanding–he was incredibly gentle with Sophia now, as if she were some precious, fragile treasure.]]
Of course… all his technique had been perfected on her body.[]
And now he was using the kisses he’d learned from her to kiss the person he truly loved.]]
Riley couldn’t watch anymore. She turned and hurried away.
Standing on the sidewalk trying to call a cab, the cold wind made her eyes water.[]
“Riley!”
Jaxon’s voice came from behind her.]]
She didn’t turn around, just clenched her fists tighter, her nails digging into her palms.]
“Why’d you leave without saying anything?” Jaxon walked up to her, frowning slightly.]
“I saw you were still having fun, so I didn’t want to interrupt,” she said calmly, as if she hadn’t seen anything.]
Jaxon stared at her for a few seconds, then suddenly grabbed her hand: “What fun could I have if you’re gone? Come on, I’ll drive you home.“]
Without waiting for her to refuse, he forcibly put her in the car.]
Just as he was about to start the engine, Sophia came running out, her cheeks still flushed.]
“Jaxon, my driver can’t make it,” she bit her lip, “Can I ride with you guys?”
Jaxon nodded without hesitation, then told Riley: “Sophia gets carsick, you sit in back.“[]
Riley silently got out and moved to the back seat, her heart aching like it was being stabbed.]
She got carsick too, but Jaxon never remembered.]
The whole drive, Jaxon’s attention was completely on Sophia, constantly offering her water and tissues, gently asking if she felt okay.
Riley sat in the back like she was invisible.[]
Halfway through the drive, Sophia deliberately scrolled through hot guy videos on her phone, then showed her screen to Jaxon: “What do you think of this guy? Is he good enough for me?“]

someone way better.“[]
Once college started, he’d break up with her and openly pursue Sophia.[]

Just then, Sophia noticed Riley’s pale face and said with fake concern: “Jaxon, you should talk to Riley too. She Is your girlfriend.”
Jaxon finally remembered Riley existed and was about to say something when…]
CRASH!
A loud bang–the car shook violently!]
They’d been rear–ended![]
In that split second, Jaxon instinctively lunged toward the passenger seat, shielding Sophia completely.[]
Riley’s head slammed hard into the seat in front of her. Everything went black as she lost consciousness.

When she woke up, the sharp smell of disinfectant filled her nostrils.]]
Riley slowly opened her eyes to see Jaxon sitting beside the bed, looking conflicted.[]
“You’re awake?” His voice was low, “Sorry, everything happened so fast. I didn’t have time to think, and since Sophia was closer to me, I…“]
“So you instinctively protected Sophia, right?” Riley calmly finished his sentence.[]
Jaxon pressed his lips together and didn’t deny it.[]
Suddenly, his phone buzzed, cutting through the tension–Sophia again.[]
Jaxon answered with a frown: “Okay, I’ll be right there.“[]
After hanging up, he stood up: “Sophia’s traumatized from the accident. I need to check on her. I’ll be back soon.“[]
Riley said nothing, just slowly closed her eyes.[]
