Chapter 5
After dinner, everyone played Truth or Dare.[]
In the first round, Riley lost.[]
“Dare! TAKE OFF YOUR GLASSES!” the guys excitedly cheered, “You’ve worn them for three whole years, even while sleeping! Today we’re finally gonna see your real face!“]]
Riley’s whole body tensed.[]
Take off her glasses? No way…]]
“I choose to drink,” she said quietly.[]
“Three bottles of beer, you sure?” someone grinned wickedly, “You get wasted after one drink. Don’t be stubborn.“]]
Riley was about to reach for the alcohol when Jaxon suddenly stopped her: “I’ll drink for her.“]
Sophia immediately grabbed his arm: “Fair is fair! You can’t help her!“]
“Exactly! No helping!” everyone chimed in.]]
Jaxon frowned but eventually let go.]]
Riley took a deep breath and chugged three bottles of beer.]
The alcohol burned her throat, her stomach churned violently, but she forced herself not to throw up, even though her face had gone deathly pale.[]
“I’m gonna use the bathroom.” She stumbled to her feet and rushed to the restroom, collapsing over the toilet and puking her guts out.]
By the time she finally recovered and walked out of the stall, she was blocked at the sink by one of the guys.]
It was the same one who’d demanded she take off her glasses.]
“Riley, had too much to drink? Want me to help you back?” The guy smiled fake concern while his hand reached for her glasses, “Your glasses are all crooked, let me take them off and clean them?“]
“No need!” Riley backed away frantically, but her drunk body had no strength.[]
The guy grabbed her wrist and yanked off her glasses with his other hand.[]
WHAM!]
Jaxon burst through the door and punched the guy in the face: “Touch my girlfriend and you’re DEAD!“[]
The guy screamed and hit the ground. Riley stumbled and fell too, her vision completely blurry.[]

Chapter 5
Her glasses… were gone.]]
Jaxon bent down to pick up the glasses and reached out to help her: “You okay? Let me put them back on.”
Riley panicked and covered her face: “I’ll do it myself!“]
She kept her head down, not letting him see her eyes.]]
Jaxon frowned: “What’s the difference if I put them on?“[]
“No… no need…” Riley’s voice shook, “I’m too ugly… I might scare you…”
Jaxon sighed: “You think I’d judge you?“]
“O
But Riley refused to let go. Jaxon had no choice but to hand her the glasses: “Fine, put them on yourself. I’ll wait outside.“[]
After he left, Riley slowly lowered her hands.[]
The girl in the mirror had snow–white skin and features like a painting. Her bright almond–shaped eyes were crystal clear, with long, curled lashes that were breathtakingly beautiful.]
She quickly put her glasses back on, and that stunning face was instantly hidden behind the thick lenses, transforming back into an unremarkable “bookworm.“[]
She took a deep breath and turned to head back to get her bag and leave.[]
But just as she reached the hallway corner, she stopped dead in her tracks.
Not far away, Jaxon was supporting a drunk Sophia, his brow furrowed: “Why’d you drink so much?“[]
Sophia pushed him away, her voice tearful: “Why do you care? Don’t you have a girlfriend? Go take care of her instead!”
Jaxon sighed helplessly: “I don’t like her. There’s a reason I’m with her you’ll understand later.“[]
“You don’t like her?” Sophia laughed coldly, “Then why did you jump in to save her just now?“]
Jaxon froze, opening his mouth but finding no words.
Sophia’s eyes filled with tears: “Just admit it–you like her.“[]
With that, she turned to leave, but Jaxon quickly reached out to stop her.[]
Sophia stumbled and fell into Jaxon’s arms.[]
Their lips accidentally pressed together.
