Chapter 12
When Christian reached home, the first thing he saw was countless fragments of torn wedding photos scattered on the floor.
He stood frozen for a long moment before taking a deep breath and walking over.
Next to the paper scraps sat a basin containing ashes.
Natalie had burned everything that belonged to her.
Only the parts with him from their photos remained, lying alone and discarded on the floor.
His fists trembled as he stepped into the bedroom.

Christian quickly opened the bedroom closet.
He discovered that besides taking her identification documents, Natalie had left everything else at home.
The designer dresses he’d bought to compensate her, the luxury jewelry in her jewelry box-
She hadn’t taken any of it…
A flash of realization struck him, and he immediately rushed out, driving to the civil affairs bureau.
“Found it! Male party Christian Vale, female party Natalie Warner.”
“But Mr. Vale, our system shows you and Ms. Warner have successfully completed divorce proceedings and collected your divorce certificates.”
Christian stood thunderstruck, staring blankly at the clerk.
“Impossible! The waiting period hasn’t ended–how could the divorce be finalized!” he shouted angrily.
The clerk looked at him awkwardly. “It went through the expedited process. Our records show the certificates were collected on the 3rd of this month. You and Ms. Warner have indeed successfully divorced.” Christian staggered back two steps, his mind exploding.
Divorced?
Collected?
As if he couldn’t understand, he shook his head uncontrollably.
“Impossible… Natalie loves me so much… impossible!”
“Mr… Mr. Vale? Are you alright?”
He shoved away the supporting arm, but his left foot caught his right, sending him crashing to the ground.
Veins bulged on his forehead as he painfully and ferociously beat his own head.
“Mr. Vale! Mr. Vale! Calm down!”
A giant hand seized his heart, the pain making it hard to breathe.
How could he have been so stupid?
To think he could hurt Natalie like this and she still wouldn’t leave?

Chapter 12
Where did he get such arrogance!
Tears streamed from his bloodshot eyes, the heart–wrenching pain screaming within him.
“I can’t find her… I can’t find her… I can’t find my wife!”
Maybe
“Mr. Vale, does your wife have other relatives? Maybe she went back to her family?”
Right! Natalie’s grandmother!
She must be at the hospital with her grandmother!
Christian stumbled to his feet, wiping away tears with the back of his hand.
Ignoring everything else, he called a friend while walking.
“Book me three tickets to the Southwest, as soon as possible. Yes! Right now!”
Christian rushed around, sweating profusely, but tirelessly drove to the hospital.
He bought flowers and fruit on the way.
Just as he was
was about joyfully met Natalie inthe hospital rom, he discovered that her grandmother’s rom had been asigned to someone else.
He stared in confusion at the stranger in the bed, thinking he’d entered the wrong room.
Only after double–checking did he approach the nurses‘ station with a dark expression.
“What’s going on! I’ve been paying for room 035–how could you give it to someone else!”
The nurse blinked, seeming to recognize him.
An older nurse nearby frowned and looked up. “Which patient are you looking for?”
Christian’s volatile expression darkened as he said quietly: “Old Mrs. Mills.”
“Old Mrs. Mills? She passed away last week…”
Christian’s expression cracked like breaking stone. “Passed… away?”
“Yes, I heard she was stressed to death. When the doctor arrived, she was already dying, but they were called away to treat a woman faking
unconsciousness.”
“Everyone could tell that woman was fine, but her husband was so worried and protective. The old lady couldn’t even catch her last breath before she
died.”
“Her granddaughter cried so pitifully in the room. So tragic–I heard they raised each other, and she didn’t even see her grandmother’s last moments. Isn’t that heartbreaking?” The old nurse sighed after speaking.
