Chapter 70
However, Bryan remained cold–faced, his attitude even worse than before.
“The child is innocent. Why are you dragging it into this?“\
Camila didn’t notice the panic laced beneath his voice. She assumed he was merely grieving the loss of his offspring. So, she softened her tone, trying to comfort him.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. But just thinking about another woman giving birth to your child makes me jealous. If you really want a child, I’ll have one for you. I’ll give birth to as many as you want.“”
She thought this would please him. After all, he had once asked her to bear his child. But she had turned him down back then, afraid of the pain.”
Yet the warmth she expected never came.\
Instead, what greeted her was Bryan’s cold, cutting voice. “In what capacity would you give birth to my child? As my sister or my lover?”
That single question left Camila utterly speechless. She stared at him in awkward silence, unable to utter a word.”
Bryan’s unease only deepened. He no longer wanted to continue the conversation. Without another word, he pushed her aside and walked out the door.
Behind him, Camila called after him in frustration. “Where are you going?“”
But Bryan ignored her. He got into his car and drove away from the villa.
On the road, his assistant called, “Mr. Ostern, we’ve checked everywhere we could, but we still can’t find Ms. Grain. We can’t even locate her name. It’s as if… as if she’s erased her identity information.”}
Bryan’s heart clenched, but he forced himself to stay calm.
“It’s fine. If I can’t find her, can’t I find her brother?”
With that, he turned the car around and headed for the hospital where Aiden had been staying.”
Ten minutes later, his car pulled up outside the hospital.”
Without a word, he rushed inside, ignoring the doctors and nurses who greeted him along the way.”
As he approached the ward, his tightly wound nerves finally began to loosen.
He knew how much I loved my brother. He didn’t believe I would leave him behind–not even if I hated Camila or was heartbroken by him.
But when he pushed open the door to the ward, there was no one there.
Only an empty bed.
Bryan’s breath caught in his throat. He spun around and rushed out of the room, finding the nearest doctor. “Where’s the patient in Room 380?“”
The doctor responded honestly, “He was discharged early yesterday morning. Your girlfriend handled the discharge procedures herself. She said she wanted to take your brother abroad for treatment.“”
At those words, it felt like a bucket of ice water had been poured over him.”
His expression darkened instantly. He couldn’t understand it. Why would I suddenly abandon him and leave with my brother?” Just then, his assistant came rushing in, holding a small object in his hand–a sunny day doll.
“Mr. Ostern, I found this at the company entrance. If I remember correctly, this was the universal card you specially customized for Ms. Grain, right? It seems she threw it away.“”
“And according to the security guard, it’s because Ms. Grain heard this one was a fake–that the real one was actually with your sister. So she discarded it.“”
