Chapter 17
The people who rushed in quickly separated them.
“Mr. Vale, please calm down!”
Veins bulged on Christian’s forehead, his expression terrifyingly dark, as if he couldn’t hear anyone speaking.
Charlotte finally escaped from his grip.
She gasped for air while coughing violently.
After a while, she looked at Christian in disbelief. “You actually tried to strangle me for that bitch! Christian, have you really changed your heart?! Do you really love Natalie?”
“Christian, how can you face me!!!” Charlotte accused hysterically.
But he turned a deaf ear, his eyes wishing he could devour Charlotte whole.
Seeing Christian like this, she gradually regained her composure.
Touching her neck fearfully, she looked urgently at her assistant.
“I’m sick. I need to go to a private psychiatric hospital for treatment!”
Christian had gone mad!
He really wanted to strangle her!
Charlotte hurriedly admitted herself to the psychiatric hospital
Without the patient’s consent, this place would refuse all outside visitors.
She feared that Christian, upon learning the truth, would actually kill her.
Charlotte looked at Christian’s photo through tears, both pitifully and hatefully.
After that day, Christian was forcibly brought home by his father’s people.
He went berserk, smashing everything in the room.
“Let me out!”
His father watched coldly. “Christian, I warned you to stay away from that woman! I don’t care if it’s old feelings or revenge–I cannot tolerate you ruining the Vale family reputation anymore!”
Christian was locked up. He refused to eat or drink, using hunger strikes to resist.
But his father didn’t care at all.
All he wanted was the family’s dignity.
Christian curled up from stomach pain.
In his mind, he conjured images of Natalie.
He’d never felt even an ounce of love in this cold home.

Chapter 17
Once. he thought being with Charlotte and doing bold, exciting things was love.
But only Natalie’s appearance taught him what love truly was.
A mocking smile crossed Christian’s pale face.
He flicked his lighter and set the room ablaze.
Seeing the fire, servants immediately opened the door from outside to release him.
Christian took advantage of the chaos to leave the Vale house and drive toward Charlotte’s psychiatric hospital.
Meanwhile, in the border town, Natalie’s bed–and–breakfast was incredibly busy during the tourist season.
After she and Ruby decided to settle here permanently, they contacted several former cellmates they’d been close to.
Struggling with city jobs, those women took the plunge and came to join them.
Five women managed the bed–and–breakfast business perfectly.
Ruby was eloquent and good at welcoming guests.
Natalie was meticulous and careful, suitable for accounting and management.
Maya and Lisa were sisters who’d worked in restaurants before prison.
When a restaurant owner assaulted Lisa while drunk, her sister Maya castrated him.
Natalie and Ruby cheered that she’d done well.
The sisters cooked excellently–every guest who stayed praised their food.
Grace, who cleaned the bed–and–breakfast, was like a big sister to them all.
As a young girl, she was sold by her parents for being female,
Grace married a disabled man, but he was addicted to gambling and sold her when he owed money.
Her life was like duckweed, repeatedly sold cheaply by the only man she could depend on.
Finally, in despair, she became a prostitute.
Each of them carried their own wounds.
But here, they supported each other like family.
The scars on their hearts seemed soothed and healed, with flowers blooming even in the most painful places.
The town had been developed into a tourist destination.
Natalie was too busy every day to think about the past.
But not thinking didn’t mean she wasn’t paying attention.
She knew it would be difficult to convict Charlotte of intentional murder.
Not only because Charlotte was mentally ill, but also because aside from that video, there were no other witnesses.
But she never expected Charlotte to shamelessly twist the truth online and play the victim.
