Chapter 16
Christian’s video spread wider and wider.
From the beginning when everyone condemned and cursed him, later suddenly many people began to pity him.
Online opinions became polarized.
When his father called, Christian had just finished his medical examination.
“That victim act was clever. I’ve already added fuel to the fire online. The investigators came, but the evidence chain is insufficient, and Charlotte Reed is mentally ill, so this matter will likely be dropped. That woman is crazy–I advise you not to provoke her anymore!”
Christian didn’t respond to his father’s words.
He wasn’t acting.
But he didn’t need to explain that to his father.
His face pale, voice hoarse: “Any news about her?”
His father’s face immediately stiffened. “I already told you–Natalie Warner is dead! When will you finally face reality?!”
The phone was slammed down.
Christian stared at the white wall, his eyes burning as if something was pressing down on them.
After Charlotte was taken for questioning, she desperately waited for Christian to come perjure himself for her.
She’d been an excellent student all her life.
She didn’t want to spend the rest of her life in a mental institution!
But when she sent people to find Christian, he refused to see anyone and hung up on all their calls.
Gradually, Charlotte lost patience.
She started having episodes again.
Anxiety made her constantly scratch at her skin.
Red marks were scratched raw and bleeding, blood flowing all over her body.
She banged her head against the wall–the violent sounds attracted her guards.
Charlotte was sent to the hospital for treatment.
When her assistant visited, he brought the latest news:
“The case has been suspended due to lack of key witnesses and insufficient evidence.”
Charlotte snatched the cigarette pack from her assistant’s hand.
Hastily shoving one in her mouth: “I want to be discharged. Arrange my discharge!”
Christian didn’t expect to encounter Charlotte here.

Passing through the corridor, a familiar voice made him stop.
“Ms. Reed, your condition is terrible. You really can’t rush to be discharged. The doctor said what you need most is to obediently take medicine and
rest!”
“Shut up! I’m in this state all because of that bitch Natalie! She deserves to die! Just like her dead old grandmother!”
“Why didn’t she die that day?! How is she so lucky? She even escaped cyberbullying. I spent so much money having people throw dirt on her, even exposing my own photos at any cost. Why couldn’t I destroy her?”
“And Christian too—why won’t he care about me? That day I made Natalie’s grandmother die of anger in the hospital room, and he still sided with me. Why won’t he visit or care about me now?”
The things in Christian’s hands crashed to the floor-
“What did you say!”
Seeing Christian suddenly appear at the door, Charlotte’s expression rapidly changed.
“Chris… Christian, how are you here…” She looked in horror at Christian’s bloodshot eyes.
But he completely ignored her question.
Christian strode forward, the violence in his eyes dropping the room’s temperature considerably.
Charlotte’s assistant immediately sensed something wrong.
He stood up, trying to stop him.
“Mr. Vale, Ms. Reed is having another episode. What she just said can’t be taken seriously!”
“Get lost!” Christian gritted his teeth.
He glared viciously at the woman on the hospital bed.
He roughly shoved Charlotte’s assistant aside, his large hand grabbing Charlotte as she tried to escape.
He gripped her throat tightly. Charlotte cried out in pain, but he seemed not to hear.
“Say what you just said again!” He was breathing heavily.
Charlotte was frightened by his appearance. “Christian, what’s wrong with you? It’s me, Charlotte! You’re hurting me–please let go!”
Her face went pale with pain, but Christian still gripped her throat tightly.
Looking at Charlotte before him, Natalie’s face flashed in his mind.
His heart ached as if he couldn’t breathe.
He hadn’t heard wrong–all of this was Charlotte’s self–directed performance!
Natalie had told him.
She had said she’d never done those things.

But he still chose not to believe her.
Instead, he believed this woman full of lies!
